Hi just a quick message to say William Thomas arrived yesterday evening at 9.30. Lovely home water birth as planned. Long latent stage again but actual labour timed at 2 hours with 2 minute second stage! DH, doula and MW absolutely amazing and William is so cute. Really, really happy.

Congrats to everyone else who has had their little ones and good luck to those who haven't yet. Will update and catch up again soon. :o

DuelingFanio · 15/12/2010 16:53

Loved your birth story chloe, sorry you didn't get your home birth but it sounds wonderful. Seems you had a great Midwife there.

Congratulations Wholelottalove Grin

all this is so exciting.

Have been out and about but no signs of labour. Maybe I should get bouncing.

Button hope you're ok and manage to get the baby turned. x

kellestar · 15/12/2010 17:00

Also been out and about, bought me a bottle of my favourite cider and a rib eye steak for my first meal once Little B arrives. It's Wiggling about at the moment so not sure if anything will actually happen.

baking Gracie May is the name of one of our lo ely hens, made me smile.

WLL great news on your little man arriving.

Lavitabellissima · 15/12/2010 17:34

Congratulations Wholelottalove William is such a lovely, classic name Xmas Grin

Thanks everyone about my oven, I think we'd be knocking on the neighbours doors or putting it on the bbq!

crazykat · 15/12/2010 17:38

Congrats to the new arrivals since monday.

I haven't had time to catch up properly but I'll try when I get chance.

I still can't believe Kira's here at last. She's got loads of almost black hair, more than DD and DS had put together.

Baby's calling be back with birth story soon

GreenGeekGirl · 15/12/2010 17:43

Congratulations WLL - you must be pleased as punch about getting the birth you planned! Grin

40+3 today and just been to see the midwife. LO is still not engaged, so not looking like anything happening soon for me. Apparently, because of Christmas they might delay my offered induction date though, which is perfect for me, as I'd rather avoid it if I can.

I finally finished the teddy bear I've been making for LO and rather pleased with the result, even if he is a little lopsided [fbear]

maxpower · 15/12/2010 17:52

congratulations wll & welcome to William

button my LO was back to back a couple of weeks ago so had to spend lots of time in bizarre positions - pleased to hear you're feeling calmer and have something practical to be getting on with.

DD's under the weather and I've got hardly any patience left - which leaves me feeling mean Sad . I just wish she wouldn't whinge, that's what I find really niggly. She finishes nursery next Thurs so only has 4 more days to attend which I was selfishly hanging on to so that I could have a proper bit of R&R before LO arrives. DH is at home tomorrow thoguh and I've arranged to have lunch with a friend so if she's not well enough for nursery, I may just abandon them for a good few hours. Have had lots of pains in and around my pelvis, especially when walking, so I'm hoping that by body's doing some work towards LO arriving. Booked for a sweep at 39+6 just in case. Fingers crossed I won't need it!

kellestar · 15/12/2010 21:09

Feel things may just be kicking off had some really weird sensations in the fanjo, kinda like gusts/gushes, quickly dashed to the loo but no liquid. Going to bed in a moment with one of those huge bed mat thingys just in case. LO is wiggling side to side a bit.

Is it true that LO will stop moving around in latent phase? Or do they wiggle a little? I hear so many stories

Oh and my tummy is gurgling like heck and my cervix is twitchy as well.

laziness · 15/12/2010 23:17

congratulations Lauren, Aimee, Baking and Cheryl
I signed in after a few days and read such wonderful news! so happy for u all :)

A week to go till my due date...couldn't sleep well last night coz of contractions..and I prayed to God to either make me go into labour or let sleep come..:(
and guess what? I slept...Xmas Hmm

laziness · 15/12/2010 23:30

maxpower can I ask you something? did u ask to be booked for the sweep?or did ur midwife suggest it?

my midwife is a girl younger than me and always sounds so casual about everything, it worries me more..

I visited her at 38weeks and have my next appointment is on my due date...

I'm thinking, can I also get a sweep maybe..I don't want to go overdue..:(

any suggestions?

kellestar · 16/12/2010 03:17

laziness they offered me a sweep on mydue date, but I was going to ask anyway.

Defo having cx every 15-30 mins of varying strength and really bad back ache. Think maybe gone OP rather than ROT.

And I am peeing tons more than I drank. Feels like 1/2 pint every 1/2 hr so far, where is it all coming from! Usually one pee at 4 am.

kellestar · 16/12/2010 03:19

DH is fast asleep, i keep waking himbut he drifts off immediately. Well at least i can use this to get some sleep after this is all over as he will be well rested

Lavitabellissima · 16/12/2010 04:43

Ooh good luck Kellestar sounds like you're doing well. I'm up feeding, can't wait to fall back to sleep though!

kellestar · 16/12/2010 04:57

No chance of that now, getting closer, longercand stronger - and thats the contractions not DH's snoring!

CherylAnnTweedy · 16/12/2010 06:31

Congratulations WLL Smile

Ooh good luck Kelle, every contraction of mine made me need to wee!

GGG, don't get too hung up on LO engaging, neither ds1 or ds2 engaged at any time leading up to labour and both came of their own accord.

MrsSnaplegs · 16/12/2010 07:56

Congratulations and welcome to all the new arrivals, lovely names all round! Good luck Kelle !
Sorry for all those still uncomfortable and waiting !

kellestar · 16/12/2010 09:29

back to being uncomfortable and waiting. Seemed to be coming thick and fast and then at 6 they started to slow down, still strong when they arrived but from 6-8 minutes up to 15-20 and now they've gone back to being every 30 minutes. Called MW team and left a message and awaiting a call back to talk through progress.

LO kept fidgeting throughout the contractions as well, it's like s/he's trying to get his bum in the right position as that's what keeps twitching.

DH has gone to work, he's just over an hour away from home or 30 minutes from the hospital, so it's not too bad if things do pick up again.

I couldn't sleep through any of this until the cx's slowed back to 30 minutes and I've managed to get an hour.

maxpower · 16/12/2010 09:39

good luck kellestar you're brave letting your DH go off to work!

laziness it was a bit of both. Because of my history, it's in their interest to let me have a sweep as early as possible, but they did say that it's normal policy for them not to offer one before 40 weeks at the absolute earliest. No harm in asking though, you might find them amenable.

kellestar · 16/12/2010 09:41

max it was that or murder him for snoring his way through the night and leaving me alone.

kellestar · 16/12/2010 10:00

Argggg!!!! this battle of the midwives is driving me insane. In the middle of typing up a complaint letter as it's just driving me bonkers and costing a fortune in phone calls. MLU which is 2 minute walk away, who I was told to call to ask for advice/support, didn't pick up my answerphone message and also told me as I am due @Bath to give them a call instead. Give them a call and they tell me to speak to MLU as they can at least check that my waters have gone. Call MLU get answerphone, leave another message but call back a few minutes later and they told me no I need to speak to Bath. I told them that I'd rather they call ahead for me so that I don't keep being bounced back and forth as it's stressing me out. Apparently it's not part of her role. She spoke to Senior MW who said definately Bath, so call Bath and MW says no definately MLU and checks with Senior MW who advises me in no uncertain terms to not call back until MLU have checked if my waters have indeed gone. [splutter emoticon] Angry [clueless emoticon]. I just don't know what to do now, MLU phone is engaged, should I just walk up there and demand to be seen.

maxpower · 16/12/2010 10:09

Angry for you kellestar honestly, you just want to bang people's heads together. Just pitching up at the MLU might not get you the warmest welcome but at least you can ask to speak to someone in charge and they're bound to give you some attention. If you feel you've got the time/energy, call the PALS service at Bath and get them to d the running around for you. Good luck.

Good luck for today strix

DuelingFanio · 16/12/2010 10:22

Blimey kellestar what are they playing at!? How ridiculous. Hope that they pull their finger out!

laziness I have been told I won't get a sweep until 41 +2! It would have been earlier but they didn't want to send anyone on the weekend!

Lavitabellissima · 16/12/2010 10:34

Kellestar I am Xmas Angry for you. I'd just pitch up at the MLU and kick off ! Hope you have a lovely smooth labour to make up for this stress x

I've had smiles off the girls in the last couple of days, so much for you all to look forward to Xmas Smile

LittleB · 16/12/2010 11:08

Congartulations Lauren, Aimee, Baking, Cheryl and WLL!
Loads of new babies and really positive birth stories.
Sorry you are having so much trouble kellestar, sounds like you are going through the same as me with pre-labour/early labour. I was sure my baby was going to come, strong contractions every 6-8 mins, kept me awake most of the night. Then it all slowed right down, back to irregular BH now, after 24hrs of regular contractions its v frustrating. But saw midwife yesterday who said baby is in optimum position, partly engaged, back to my front and ready to go, she won't give me a sweep until 40+2 though and wouldn't examine me, said I could have him very soon, or it could be weeks yet! Have tried sex, curry and pineapple to get him moving, off to buy castor oil and raspberry leaf tea later! Would really love him to be here for Christmas and dd keeps shouting through my belly at him to 'hurry up'!

kellestar · 16/12/2010 11:14

Popped up the MLU and saw the senior midwife who grumbled the whole way through the check up. Hindwaters have gone but not the fore waters. Contractions are irregular some larger ones and then a handful of smaller ones. And its expected that LO wiggles through the process.

DH got home in record time and he's decided to take a day off to be with me. MIL called as soon as we got home to check as one of the foremen called her to say he'd skipped off after being sworn to secrecy. And she's called the whole family. Again she'd been told to not tell anyone if we tell her, but i suppose we didn't tell her so she has a get out clause.
