Oh Prettybird, sorry to hear about scan. I too am sure that if they had thought anything was really wrong they would have said / done something... fingers crossed and thinking of you. Hope the next 2 weeks fly by!

I will be 6 weeks tomorrow and can't wait to get the next 6 over so I know that things are more likely to be ok... just heard the terrible news that my psycho SIL is coming back to the UK as she is fed up abroad (after a month????) - roughly translates as she hasn't got her own way over buying some land for a house and she's thrown a hissy fit! This terrifies me because of the things she has said. I am truly scared of her and don't want her anywhere near me until well after Christmas

On a happier note, I bought 2 new pairs of trousers in a 14 today which a brill for work + 3 new bras in a bigger size (only had 1 old one which fitted without digging in. Life is so much more comfortable now!

Hope all ok with you guys

slinkstah · 18/10/2005 20:12

pb- try not to worry too much, im sure some babies grow slower than others at this stage. fingers crossed for your next scan, 2 weeks is a long time to wait though.

Dana - you forgot to add me to your list *sniff sniff boohoo edd- 21/6

Diddle · 19/10/2005 07:17

morning ladies - How are we all today. I'm still feeling pretty rough, have a midwifes appointment for next Tuesday, so hopefully they will book me in for an early scan, i'm not going to leave until they do.

Dana · 19/10/2005 07:58

prettybird, sorry to hear about your scan. I really hope everything is ok, and I am sure it will be!!

Jen, your SIL doesn't sound very nice at all. Will she live near you when she is back in the UK?

I find it really hard to concentrate on work as I feel sick and dizzy most of the time, but at least I have lots to do, so the day goes pretty quick.

Ahhh, I knew I would miss someone, sorry Slink - I have added you to the list now.

Hello, can anyone join in?

Like Slinkstah I feel a bit nervous posting so early but I'm so excited I have to tell someone. Just found out last night that I'm due on 25 June. We've already got DS (3) and we're over the moon. Congratulations to the rest of you.

Diddle · 19/10/2005 10:50

welcome bexibooboo - congrats to you. x x x

Diddle · 19/10/2005 10:57

does anyone else feel like the energy has been sapped from their body already, its only 11.00am, i'm cream crackered!

6wks 5days

trying very hard to stay positive but will be glad when i've seen the midwife and had a scan.

Dana · 19/10/2005 11:55

Welcome bexibooboo, glad you found us. And congrats again. it's a bit scary in the early days, but it is nice to be able to talk about it here, when noone knows in rl.

Diddle, I am the same. Absolutely no energy. When I come home at night all I want to do is curl up and go to sleep. Just too bad I have got cooking, bathtime, bedtime, washing, ironing etc. to deal with before I can sit down and relax. Feeling very sorry for myself at the moment. But also very happy and I know it will all be worth it in the end.

Diddle · 19/10/2005 12:03

just been looking in the new next directory for xmas. Got a wedding to go to a few weeks before xmas and need some sexy maternity clothes as i'm bound to look like a whale by then, found something very nice, hope it looks as good on me as it does in the book. not buying anything yet though, can't tempt fate.

Niddlynono · 19/10/2005 12:16

Thanks Dana & Diddle.

Diddle you've just reminded me that I'll have 2 weddings to go to in May when I'll be 8 months . If I'm anything close to the size I was with DS I'll probably have to look for a tent to wear. Oh well.

Joesmum1106 · 19/10/2005 12:38

Hi everyone, I am due 7th June 06
Me 34
Dh 64
ds 16months, so quite an unusual family!!

Diddle · 19/10/2005 12:46

bexibooboo - he he, we'll all be massive by then.

joe - welcome, very unusual family, age is just a number though!

Jen1209 · 19/10/2005 14:13

Hi and welcome to Bexibooboo & Joe and congratulations! Here's to happy / healthy pregnancies & babies for all of us!

I am at home most unusually for me in the middle of the day. I went for a wee at work this morning and discovered blood - not much, but enough so scare me silly. Was at the Dr within an hour with DP - he (Dr) had a feel and asked lots of questions. He thinks it is either: -

  1. Spotting (DP's mum had it all the way through when she was pregnant with him)
  2. My errosion of the cervix flaring up again
  3. Miscarriage

He has sent me home for total rest for the rest of the week (in quite a stressful job). Work have been brilliant about it but I am so scared it could be another m/c. Trying to think positive as the bleeding has died off now but can't help being worried. DP is really worried too - has practically stapled me to the bed....

Incidentally, why, when there is something like this going on, do you see the world and his wife at the Dr's surgery. We saw DP's uncle, our plumber and a friend of my mum's!!!!!

Sorry to go on a bit, off back to bed now with a cup of tea...

ladyschaefer · 19/10/2005 15:18

Hope everything is ok Jen, a lot of women get a bit of bleeding and go on to have healthy babies. I had a bit of bleeding with my first pregnancy and she is now a happy healthy 4 year old.Im sure it will be fine, just keep resting.

slinkstah · 19/10/2005 16:19

hi everyone, sorry you are bleeding jen, although on a positiva note i bled with all my pregnancys at about 6 weeks - 9 weeks and 2 of those pg were succesful.
i think its normal for alot of women to bleed/spot slightly in early pg

sounds like everyone is feeling sick apart from me. how is everyone counting their pg weeks? my last af was 16th sep and i have a 26 day cycle so should i count from tuesdays which was day 26 of cycle when af was due meaning 4 weeks pg? or shall i count from thursdays 28 day cycle?

Jen1209 · 19/10/2005 16:48

Just been woken up by DP ringing to check I am resting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still, 2 hours in the middle of the day was very nice!

Slink - I would think that you would have to count normal weeks ie 7 days, although your cycle was 26 days, day 28 would stil be 4 weeks pg, IYSWIM??? Hope this makes sense and helps! Of course, I could be making it up but it seems to make the most sense to me!

J x

slinkstah · 19/10/2005 17:09

yeah i think i will count from then, that means i count every thursday, so tommorrow will be week 5. its very daunting knowing that we should be pg for the next 8 months!! its a long time.

Diddle · 19/10/2005 18:53

slink - i am counting from the first day of my last period which was a friday, so this friday coming I will be 7 wks, does that make sense.

Jen - sorry to hear you're having a rough time of it. Could be nothing though, good sign that its stopping too. make sure you rest.

emkana · 19/10/2005 19:09

Hello everybody, just wanted to say hello and how are you all. I'm feeling absolutely dreadful, sooooooooooooo sick and constantly tired and I just want to curl up into a ball and cry really, which is obviously not possible with two other children to look after. Very depressed at having to face another five weeks at least of feeling like this. I'm seeing an acupuncturist on Friday and am hoping very much that it will help - I just can't cope like this. Sorry to whinge, just feeling v. sorry for myself today.
Hope you are all okay and enjoying the pregnancy more than I am at the moment!

LilacBump · 19/10/2005 19:37

jen {{hug}} sorry to hear you've been bleeding. i hope the rest will help settle things. keep us updated on how you get on!

i still feel the same. exhausted, feel sick every hour or so and it goes when i eat, windy, a bit lightheaded... i'm going to do my christmas shopping on friday before i start feeling more sick. just want to get it done! DP is clearing out our spare bedroom to make room for this baby. it might seem a little early, but it needs a LOT of work (clearing out boxes and furniture, painting, new carpet).

diddle, have you decided to go ahead with the orthodontic treatment?

Trickorflum · 19/10/2005 22:29

When I was pregnant first time I used to have this re-curring dream where the baby fell down the back of the sofa or the bed and we didn't notice and it died. It was awful. I used to also have fleeting thoughts that we would forget about it and tread on it or something too!! Awful.

I have a monster mix of kiddies sweeties here, I am hooked on Refreshers and Drumstick lollies. Is this a pregnancy craving. I have substituted a few meals for sweets . Also getting into Lovehearts and Parma Violets. Lord help me.

No sickness here, or tiredness. I must say I feel decidedly normal, not pregnant at all. Lost 2 lb too since found out. Last time I felt very ill at beginning but nothing this time. HOpe it is not bad omen.

Bad luck Jen1109, what a worry for you. My friend blead lots while pregnant and it was successful so no real whay to know, just gotta cross fingers I guess.

Anyone having a nuchal fold scan? For Downs i think. We had one on NHS at Royal London last time, but they don't do them where we live now. Could go private but we are skint and also not sure I want the worry of potentially knowing, might be better to be in blissful ignorance. Mind you they still do an abnormalities test but at about 20 weeks, very late if you did want to consider termination. So not sure where I stand on it all. I know a SN child would be a huge worry, but not sure would consider termination either, so seems no point in doing tests then. ho hum, too many choices these days.

Niddlynono · 20/10/2005 07:10

Jen, I hope everything's OK.

Diddle · 20/10/2005 07:35

emkana - Hope you're feeling a little better ]today

Jen - Any news, how are you doing? has the bleeding stopped?

lilacbump - Haven't decided about the orthodontic treat, emt yet, haven't had any time to speak to my dentist, but want to ask his opinion first. If it will be ok to wait i'd rather do that.

trickorflum - sweeites sound yummy, might have to join you, i've got such a sweet tooth. They do Nuchal scans here on the NHS, I was offered one last time, but we have decided that we don't want one, it won't make any difference to whether we have the baby or not, and really if its going to cause worry and stress, i'd rather not have it and wait and see when baby arrives.

Feeling rough again today, mega headache and just had my lemon curd on toast, which has dulled my nausea, for now. DH is now eating my lemon curd too, gonna have to stock up.

Jen1209 · 20/10/2005 08:33

Morning, well the worry hasn't stopped here I'm afraid. Slept really badly too which hasnt helped... I have had brown blood smears every time I go to the toilet (sorry perhaps tmi ) so I have no idea what is going on, I just pray it is spotting and doesn't get any worse. I have another appointment with the Dr tomorrow morning and am going to demand an early scan (6 + 1 today) for some time next week.

Have sent my boss a long email with all the things I can remember on it so I am calmer about that now and DP is being fab so do feel better, I just really really want the bleeding to stop...

Diddle - just had lemon curd myself. I have one called "Very Lemon Curd" which is wonderfully sour + I checked & it has pasturised egg in so it's ok for me!

kiwimumtobe · 20/10/2005 09:27

Hi all,

Am very new to all this - pregnant for the first time and due June 14th. Was very excited at first, but constant nausea begins to make me wonder what on earth I am doing to myself - any one else feel the same? Was meant to be away for work in Frankfurt this week, but too sick to leave the house! I am praying for this feeling to end.
Jen - really sorry to read what you are going through, but may just be the common spotting of early preg. Fingers crossed for you.
