Good morning ladies!
Flum, I thought I was the only one stoopid enough to store my pram in the shed. Dh came up the garden with a sheepish look on his face yesterday and told me that it has got damp and gone mouldy! Oh well, we'd better get saving for another one!

I've been having dreams for the last few nights and I keep waking up with night sweats. They aren't scary ones, but I don't usually remember my dreams so I wake up all "What the....Where am I...Yuck I'm soaked" not nice 3 or 4 times a night.

Curlycapers · 05/12/2005 10:29

Hi slinksanta - glad you're feeling better.
Have you been to see your own gp? When I've had worries during pregnancy I have always found it helpful to go and see my doctor, they can often speak to the antenatal clinic and ask that you be seen.
I passed out and had some kind of muscle spasm or fit when I was 11wks pregnant with dd and even though the doctor assured me that she would be ok he got me an early scan because I was so worried.

Hannah1974 · 05/12/2005 11:10

Hi All

This is my first post, so let me introduce myself!

Me 31
DP 27 (Toyboy, I know!)
Due Date - 02/06/06 (and happy to know I am not the only one to think of the 06/06/06 thing, argh!)

This is my first baby and I have been introduced by my dear sister who has two children under two and is blatantly addicted! It may run in the family so watch this space...

I had my first scan a few weeks ago, the baby decided to make like a potato for the picture so I hope any of you who haven't been yet fare better than I did on that front!

xx

jinglediddle · 05/12/2005 12:56

hannah1974 - welcome and congratulations

love the description of your baby making like a potato. have me chuckling.

slink - so please to hear all is still ok. can't believe they are making you wait so long, did you explain your reason for wanting to be seen sooner?
useless sometimes aren't they, bloody doctors. Can't believe the trouble you're having.
The 4d scan was amazing, really amazing, i'll eamil you the picture, you've be amazed. baby looked so real, like a real little person, not like a blob like it did the last few times.
She only put it on 4d for a few minutes as she wasn't really supposed to, but we managed to get it on video (they record it for you) so we can watch it over and over now.

slinksanta · 05/12/2005 14:15

well dp has rang the hospital and they said we have to keep ringing to see if we can get a cancellation, have left dp in charge of it all now.
i had a picture from the very quick scan i had on friday but it wasn't great, bit blured and baby looked as if it could have been 6 weeks still, ya know when they look a bit alieny. still can't wait for my next scan whenever that may be

i used my doppler last night and couldn't find the heartbeat and could only hear what i can only describe as blubbley noises, i thought that could be my stomach but it was far too low for that, anyway after a small panic i heard baby this morning loud and clear.

jinglediddle · 05/12/2005 14:28

aww maybe baby was blowing bubbles or hiccuping and it distorted eveyrthing.

jinglediddle · 06/12/2005 09:43

morning ladies - sure i might have felt baby move last night. a couple of people described it to me, as like bubbles popping inside you, and i definitly had a feeling like that. didn't last long though. wonder if it was?

Found DH looking on Ebay this morning at dopplers, and he's bought one, so we might get it tomorrow if they post it today. how exciting, hope it works and i can find a heartbeat. can't wait for it to come.

Seem to be feeling much less nauseous now i've passed 13 wks, its comes on a little in the evening, but daytimes are getting much easier. Lets hope it stays that way. Just mega tired now.

slinksanta · 06/12/2005 09:56

thats fab about getting a doppler, its great hearing the heartbeat, you will beable to hear whooshing of blood too and sometimes babys movement which sounds like crashes and bangs. you can hear your own heatbeat/blood whoosh and the babys heart beat together, my baby does 2 or 3 beats to my 1 heartbeat

i know what you mean about tiredness my eyes started shutting during eastenders last night! i ended up forgeting about tidying and going to bed the same time as the kids

Laura032004 · 06/12/2005 10:01

Noonee - glad to hear your scan went well I won't be booking into the antenatal classes this time, but this is no. 2 for me! I did NHS and NCT last time, and the NCT were booked up months in advance!

diddle - glad to hear your scan went well too! Lucky you getting a video! What doppler did your DH buy? That was lovely of him

Hannah1974 - congratulations! Addicted yet?

Getting a bit jealous of all of you with dopplers, but I am really going to try and resist getting one. It will be a lot easier to resist once I can feel the baby moving though.

Only a week now until my 12w scan! It seems to have come round really quickly. I can't wait.

I've got DH's work xmas do tonight, so I'm going to have to go and see what still fits.....! I've definitely got a bump now, not sure if I'm putting on weight everywhere though. I think I might have to buy a set of scales at the weekend to keep a bit of an eye on what's happening. I put on a lot of weight with DS, so must try and avoid that this time!

jinglediddle · 06/12/2005 10:18

laura - this is the doppler he's ordered. looking forward to getting it now.

slinksanta · 06/12/2005 10:54

oooh thats the one i am looking at, i am thinking of selling mine and getting one with a display. you will have to let me know how it is

Laura032004 · 06/12/2005 11:21

Looks fab. Very jealous

jinglediddle · 06/12/2005 13:47

yeh no probs slink. sure i felt baby again this afternoon, prodding at my belly. felt like bubbles again like you said.
Two people have complimented my bump too, saying how lovely it is to see me with one, they know what i've been through this year to get this far. feeling positive today.

Hannah1974 · 06/12/2005 15:47

Hi All

Jealous of you guys who can feel movements, I have to say I have felt nothing yet...
Has anyone received their maternity exemption card as yet, lady in Boots was surprised I didn't have it?

x H

Noonee · 06/12/2005 16:09

Hannah1974 - I got my card quite promptly so you may want to ring them up and check?

I am feeling quite excited as my date for the 20 week scan came through this morning - I know it's ages away but still felt excited.

Don't know whether to ask for the sex or not. DP really wants to know and I'm keen as well. Not sure if it spoils anything further down the line.

I seem to have lots of odd pains as well. I presume it's the utereus expanding????

LilacBump · 06/12/2005 17:20

hannah, after 8 weeks of waiting for my card, i rang this number 0845 601 8076 (nhs prescriptions) and was told they didn't get my form sent to them, had to go back to the doctor's surgery to sign it again. hopefully i will get it soon as i really need a checkup at the dentist!

Dana · 07/12/2005 09:51

wow diddle, your doppler looks cool. Did it arrive yet? Wish I could get one, but definately not possible this close to christmas. It would be nice to be able to listen to the heartbeat at home. I can't wait for my midwife appointment in two weeks, so worried that something could be wrong.

Noonee, with my first (DS) I didn't want to know and was glad for the surprise (even though I was sure it was a boy all along).
This time I would like to know, if they can tell me at my next scan (19 weeks). But it is more for practical reasons. If it's a boy we can reuse most of DS's clothes, as he was a June baby too.

And congratulations to Hannah1974!!!

LilacBump · 07/12/2005 11:48

argghhhh! i can't make an appointment with my midwife as christmas is coming up and she's fully booked for the next few weeks anyway. i'm supposed to see her at 16 weeks. i also haven't heard anything about the blood tests they did... aren't they supposed to ring about the results?
and another thing... i quite wanted a nuchal fold scan, but isn't it up to 14 weeks that they can do that?
sorry for the rant, i just feel like the care i'm getting is inadequate. with DD i was much more informed of everything.

on the up side... i am getting my hair cut tomorrow and will go shopping for maternity clothes on friday. it's all like a proper makeover

ladyschaefer · 07/12/2005 12:36

From what i remember when i had my DD i had a phonecall to tell me about the Downsyndrome blood test result but all the other blood tests i had where sent back to my MW and she told me about the results when i went for my appointment.

Im afraid you can only have the Nuchal fold scan done between 11 and 14 weeks, i had mine last week as its the only scan i can have till 20 weeks as they dont do dating scans in my area, You can still have the blood tests for downs at 16 weeks though.

IMO the blood test is a bit more accurate as they dont take your age into consideration, i know a few people who've had the nuchal scan and told they were high risk when they were'nt.

Dana · 07/12/2005 14:07

Lilac, as Ladyschaefer says the latest you can have the nuchal fold scan is 13 weeks + 6 days. By combining the blood test (which should be done before the scan) and the nuchal fold scan they find approx. 92% of the cases of Downs, for the scan alone this drops to 75% and for the blood test alone to 60%. (These are statistics I got from a Danish pregnancy book, might be different in the UK).

Sorry to hear you are being messed about a bit. Sounds like your doctor hasn't given you the adequate information to go forward. It is so frustrating when that happens. How are we meant to know it all? (imagine if we didn't have mumsnet .)

jinglediddle · 07/12/2005 14:11

Yep doppler arrived this morning, its fab, have tried it out, thing i need to get the hang of it though, found babys heartbeat, sounded like a train, then lost it and picked up mine, then the screen told me babies heart had dropped dramatically, no wonder, it had gone down to 90bpm, that was my heart i think , soon found babies going mega fast again, was so weird. love it though.

mrsbabookaloo · 07/12/2005 14:15

Hello all: quick poll: maybe everybody's just bored of writing about it, but who else apart from me is still throwing up?
I think I'm better than I was, but I still throw up in the mornings and feel sick late afternoon and evening, when I get hungry. I'm holding out that it'll get better like a miracle at 15 weeks: this Sunday!

carlychristmas · 07/12/2005 14:16

sorry to hijack ladies
DIDDLE have just been skimming throught this thread and just wanted to say how fab for you having a 4d scan am really i wanted one with my ds2 but the closet place was in london. Did it look like a real baby?
