C&G - as with 93pjb, have been reading OWO's thread, than ks for telling us about it - how very exciting! she seems to be in denial though Confused

MrsSnaplegs · 09/11/2010 18:57

exciting news about owo - hope she is ok, will be keeping an eye on her thread!
C&G sorry you are having a rough time - not fun being in and out of hospital - is it far to travel?
miffster also fed up with crap ugly bras - trying to get by on bare minimum but means I am constantly bugging DH as to whether he has washed them - even worse now I have had to resort to breast pads again Hmm
laurenamium glad they filled the hole - at least they have taken notice of your complaint although a bit late after your fall. They came to fix the path to our house today (reported before we moved in) but they said they would only do one little bit that was the worst because of lack of funding - DH told them it needed reassessing and the area manager was here with surveyor within an hour to reassess where they agreed to do all of the damage (subsidence) -don't think they wanted to argue with fat pregnant lady who had to remind them about my other health issues Wink - did they really think it was safe to leave the path like that with someone who has balance issues?
Also it is common to get carpel tunnel syndrome when pregnant - this can cause pain and weakness in your hands, could your hand problems be related to this?
kellestar wow expensive for a secondhand shop - agree often get a much better price on Ebay - most of our stuff we have been given, either stuff we lent out last time that has been returned or bits from friends. Just a few bits to replace that we haven't got - baby bath (no idea where that went!) and baby monitor (sold at car boot about 6 months before I fell pregnant!!) It's weird with clothes -even when you know they are clean - sometimes other peoples clean just doesn't smell the same Hmm
notso glad you are ok - the scares make it more real now even when you already have children!!

Had visit from my families/social worker today - she is furious about the house they have put us in - really tell me about it!! She is very supportive but it seems as if she is going over a lot of old ground with things we have been fighting for months. She also managed to wind DH up by telling us AGAIN we "should" be claiming DLA and motability because of my CFS - yes I know I am entitled and would more than likely have no problems getting it but I work FT and we have no need for the extra support - we manage my condition ourselves and extra money won't help me get better. I also object with the job I do that I could claim this - makes the system seem a bit of a farce for some people. I may have to re-evaluate my opinions in the future - especially if I was medically retired from my job but currently the position we are in means we don't need this - no wonder the country is in such a state - I would rather someone who genuinely needed it had the staff spending time on their case than processing my application. Sorry rant over - must be the hormones Grin

japhrimel · 09/11/2010 18:58

notso - the CTG can be done with you sitting, standing or sitting on a ball as long as it doesn't send your LO crazy (usually only a problem if the monitor digs in). My CMW said to ask for a Pezzi ball to sit on if it hurts to lie back for a CTG and sitting up isn't good.

OMG at OWO! Thanks for heads-up girls.

My news of the day is that I may now have Pre-eclampsia as well as OC! Woohooo, I'm doing so great at clocking up complications now. Hmm High bp and trace protein in my pee at antenatal today so I have to go into DAU on Friday for repeat tests for PET and then a scan in 2 weeks. Oh and although my bile acid levels are looking good, my ALTs (a liver function test) have started shooting up. Looks like it's going to be a race between my OC and PET/high bp as to what triggers the decision for a 38 week induction. Confused

ReshapeWhileDamp · 09/11/2010 19:10

Japhrimel Sad. That really stinks. Hope your PETs are good. I had a trace of protein at this stage and quite high BP though, and though they watched me like a hawk, I never did get PE, just hypertension.

CheeseandGherkins · 09/11/2010 19:15

Feel like I haven't stopped moaning today, feeling sick now as well...maybe I'm coming down witih something. Ds2 is in bed but not asleep yet, keep hearing random noises from upstairs and he just shouted down the stairs to me, "Love you so much mama", awww :o

notso glad things calmed down for you. I was obsessive over those programmes in my last pregnancies, have been trying to resist the urge again this time but I fear I'm finally succumbing lol.

kitty is really odd but I feel knackered now AND I haven't even done anything! I really need to get my arse in gear and wash the baby clothes and pack bags, I do need dh to get some things from the loft first though so I have to wait for that; don't want to nag...

MrsS it does take a while, it's 10 miles away but in the middle of Cambridge and we live just outside, takes a good hour in traffic but still 15-20 mins on a clear road.

japh you're really going through it :( hope you're not feeling to crappy. Do be really careful with PE, I had it with my first and they were going to induce me early but my waters went on their own at 36 weeks. If you have any visual disturbances or epigastric pain then call them up right away just in case. It can worsen very quickly.

Wholelottalove · 09/11/2010 19:23

Oh, oh, off to read OWO's thread! Thanks C&G for alerting us to it. Back later to catch up :)

SlightlyTired · 09/11/2010 20:02

Hello everyone. Busy thread today while I've been at work. (2 more days to go - hurrah!)

DF I was going to comment on your earlier post re the sort of advice you got on breastfeeding (I really, really struggled myself and all that it's-natural-it-doesn't-hurt-just-keep-trying bollocks really pisses me off - took DD weeks to reach her birth weight after losing so much due to all our various problems). Anyway - and breathe - turns out there's a really interesting and useful discussion of the day at the moment about successfully breastfeeding. I would highly recommend. I'm hoping I can make a go of it this time around.

MrsSL I really admire your stance on the benefits that are available to you. I don't know too many people who would do that.

Japh, that really sucks. You'll be able to write a book on pregnancy when this is all over! Make sure they keep you well monitored.

C&G hope you feel better soon.

laurenamium · 09/11/2010 20:09

Thanks C&G and Miffster for alerting us to OWO thread Grin Thats REALLY scary as we share the same due date! arrgh

Japh Thats awful that you have yet another complication! Thinking of you from my sofa!

Wholelottalove · 09/11/2010 20:10

93pjb I must day DD is an old hand at Cbeebies already! I got out my old kari me sling and was trying to work out how I'd BF in it the other day. The bump was getting in the way of my practising with one of DD's dolls.

RWD she'll be 3 in April. She's also saying she wants the baby now and we have to visit the baby room every day at nursery on the way out or she goes crackers. They're being very accomodating though.

miffster that beanbag thing looks amazing. Not sure we can stretch to it, but I really want one.

Japh that's awful, you've really been having a tough time of it. Hope you're doing ok.

MrsSnaplegs · 09/11/2010 20:11

slightly thanks for the verbal support - sometimes I do wonder if we are too stubborn but we do stand by our principles on this. not saying the extra money wouldn't be lovely but at the moment we manage without. Money can't buy health!

MrsSnaplegs · 09/11/2010 20:13

japh sorry to hear about PE as well, they checked me as well on Friday but seemed to give me all clear on it - more concerned about OC

CheeseandGherkins · 09/11/2010 20:21

Spoke to soon, DS2 is STILL awake...I can see this being a load of fun when the baby's born...I'm so bloody exhausted and fed up of this every single night with him. He and DS1 will be up around 6am too, sometimes earlier later if lucky. I could cry. Sigh.

CheeseandGherkins · 09/11/2010 20:22

*too not to

Miffster · 09/11/2010 20:38

Japhrimel so sorry you are having all these hassles.
C&G hope you can get some kip.

CherylAnnTweedy · 09/11/2010 20:50

Can you all stop chatting to much please I can't keep up! Grin

Well we bought a new car today eek! We've gone against everything we believe in...We hate French cars, Citroens in particular, we hate small cars, we don't like slow cars with no power whatsoever, the Xsara Picasso is possibly one of the ugliest cars on the road, but we've just bought one! Does about the same mpg as our Mondeo, so very cheap to run, but being a 54 with only 64K on the clock hopefully won't keep randomly breaking down like the Mondeo has started to do. Plus, the most important thing, it has 3 seperate full size seats, so can fit 3 car seats in, the Mondeo was really too tight and meant that we would have needed to hire a car at weekends and school holidays. Far from ideal.

It's getting very close until we all meet our babies, how exciting!

Re the BF comments, couldn't agree more. I very nearly gave up with ds1 because of the pain and constant feeding at the start, always being told, "If it hurts, you're doing it wrong", "If you're engorged, you're doing it wrong", "If babies feeding too often, you're doing it wrong" etc etc. It was only becuase of a friend fortunately taking phonecalls from me in tears at stupid o clock in the night reassuring me that everything was perfectly normal that I carried on.

CheeseandGherkins · 09/11/2010 20:55

Miffster waiting for some peace and quiet :( he's still awake...

Cheryl Congrats on the new car, hope you enjoy it :)

Chooster · 09/11/2010 21:09

Oooh - off to check out OWO's thread... Funny I just thought of her today and htta we'd not heard much.

Not caught up yet but will do after I've eaten and seen if we have another Decemeber baby early Smile.

MrsSnaplegs · 09/11/2010 21:10

am lurking on owo thread for the evening but thought I would say how weird it was earlier - bump had hiccups - ok experienced that before but now he is engaged it meant I had hiccups in my cheeks of my bottom - very strange feeling!!

kellestar · 09/11/2010 21:50

japh you really are getting slammed with it all Sad and hope that your check up on Friday goes well.

I am also lurking now on the OWO thread. It's exciting, DH keeps asking about it Grin bless him.

Cheryl Ooooo shiney, one of my friends bought one recently now she has to tote around three car seats and finds it very easy. Her's has sliding doors as well, which makes life much easier in the car park!

Plasterer has just finished up and gone home. It's all done. Hopefully next week we can get the painting done and move all the furniture back into that room. He's also gone home with loads of extra's. Strawberry Jam, Pickled Onions, Beetroot Chutney, Honey and a pumpkin as a thank you for staying late to finish it off.

kellestar · 09/11/2010 21:51

and DH has just reminded me that we have our first antenatal class tomorrow at 9 so have to be up early to get there. May not be able to watch OWO thread all night. Boohoo :(

MrsSnaplegs · 09/11/2010 22:00

am planning on taking iphone to bed so can check on owo when i get up for a wee Grin not stalking honest Hmm

MrsSnaplegs · 10/11/2010 07:03

No news from owo on her other thread, was up a couple of times in night and did check. Hope she's ok!!

crazykat · 10/11/2010 08:00

I've just checked the other thread and OWO hasn't had her baby yet (or hadn't when she last posted). Hope you're okay OWO abd don't have too long till you meet your LO.

Baby had been driving me nuts this morning, I've been getting what feel like gentle flicks very low down in my pelvis at the front. Constantly, for the last hour. I think she's either got bad hiccups or is trying to move further down. I've also been getting the odd sharp pain.

How are you feeling today C&G.

Congrats on the new car Cheryl, I used to love my parents picasso

Lavitabellissima · 10/11/2010 08:20

Hi lovely ladies, I've been desperate to post but had no internet access in hospital!

Vivienne Siena 2.5 kilo & Florence Sofia 2.1 kilo were both last Thursday by emergency c section after my waters broke in the night at 34 & 3 days so prem. They were breathing fine just needed heat lamps to keep their temp up and Vivienne had a day on Sunday under the photo therapy lamp as she was jaundiced. They let me me bring them home last night and they are divine, I am so happy!

I need to start pumping for breast milk and will up date more later, once I've read though a weeks worth of posts. Hope you are all doing well and any early arrivals are doing well. All of you who are still pregnant you have so much to look forward to, all the stress, pain, sleep less nights, are just so worth it Grin

Miffster · 10/11/2010 08:40

Oh! Oh! Congratulations on the arrival of the little girls!
