Oh, wow Button. How exciting!! Any chance you can finish up at work really quickly so you can have as much rest as possible before LO decides to make an appearance?

Have just come home from midwife appointment that was scheduled for 3pm. Stupid doctor's surgery had booked it for next week instead of this week, but I didn't want to wait another week (could have had the baby by then!) so they sent me across to the birth centre, where I waited for an hour and fifteen minutes. Looks like I am brewing a UTI, which could account for some of the odd sharp pains I've been getting this morning as well as the extremely frequent loo visits. Have been booked in for a growth scan tomorrow morning as still measuring small for dates. MW said she didn't think baby is a tiny baby - and also head is lower down in pelvis than last week, but she scheduled it anyway. Quite glad as the constant comments about my small bump were starting to worry me.

Sooo tired now - DD has been asking me impossible questions all afternoon as well - "why is the rainbow magic; how do horses jump; what is that thing [while pointing at something from her car seat behind me, while I am driving]?" Need to lie down in a darkened room for half an hour...

DuelingFanjo · 18/11/2010 18:32

oooh button how exciting. Hope you're not too freaked out?

Hope you're ok slightlyTired and that they can do something to stop the UTI.

CheeseandGherkins · 18/11/2010 18:53

chooster it can be quite, is fun the right word? timing the BH's at times, especially if you're having a run of them. Poor DS2, at least they're all over with now. I really like Jude for a boy.

max my bump feels so stretched too, starting to look shiney a bit now as well which is a little odd.

lauren my BH's vary from just very, very tight with no pain or the same tightness but with cramping feelings in my lower abdomen, legs and lower back. It gradually gets tight, reaches a point of tightness and then slowly back down again.

slightly baby shower sounds lovely :) Thanks, I'll bear that in mind about the size of the packages, such silly rules now. How old is DD? DS2 asks a lot of questions and it can get quite frustrating at times!

Button Oh wow, you've had an eventful day! Do you know if you're dilating at all? Exciting! Do take things easy though just in case you need your energy for labour!

Pjen lovely to hear from you. My DS1 was like that feeding, took an age. Try and get as much rest as you can.

notso you sound like you're in a lot of pain, they should be trying to help you rather than fobbing you off. I hope you manage to get some proper advice soon :( All your food sounds yummy!

Reshape I've only had good comments so far about baby being due 2 days before Christmas. People keep asking when I'm due and when I say they get all excited and say how wonderful it will be and some of them saying they have similar birthdays and how much they love it! Thanks for the duvet advice, I'll pop out again tomorrow and try to find some. I went out today but forgot to take the list with me..lol. How many weeks are you now? I'm 35 weeks today and baby has only recently turned from breech to head down (assuming she is still head down now), I didn't think she was going to! Hope baby turns for you.

LittleB Thanks, I found some in Smiths :o

Kelle DH tried the supermarket but they didn't have any, found some in smiths today though. Really glad baby has started moving more again, must have been scary for you. Mil sounds, erm, difficult hehe. Fingers crossed you don't have any more problmems. Ooh melted cheese, I love cheese in any form, mmmm. Can't have the fishfingers though as I'm a veggie.

DF your replacement does sound annoying, are you looking forward to your mat leave?

japh is it 10 movements in 10 hours? I always thought it was 10 movements in one hour. Hoping baby puts in an appearance before you need to be induced.

cheryl did you try sweetening it with honey? It is rather vile though I must admit!

Got some more bits for Christmas today, feeling quite tired now though and my feet are killing me. Baby is kicking me lots as usual and had me up half the night. Feeling crampy again but I think walking lots brings that on so I'm not concerned. Better rush off now and sort the dcs out, back later hopefully.

japhrimel · 18/11/2010 18:58

C&G - yes it's 10 movements in 10 hours, but I have to say that 6 weeks ago, my LO was averaging more like 10 in 1 hour too!

Oooh Button, how exciting! Smile Have to say I'm a bit Envy as I really want things to get moving so I can avoid induction but haven't had a show yet so figure I've got at least a couple more weeks.

maxpower · 18/11/2010 20:14

Hi all, suffering with swiss cheese brain today so I won't attempt to respond to everyone individually!

button how exciting, fingers crossed for you. Don't stress too much about work, they'll sort themselves out if you suddenly have to go off.

baby movements i was told by the specialist mw last week that you should look for 12 movements in 12 hours but she stressed that we all know our babies so it's more of an issue if they start behaving differently.

kellestar Angry at your DH for calling his mum and Hmm at your MIL. Let's hope he's learned his lesson.

Decided on who we'd like to appoint to cover my mat leave today. My line manager said some really lovely things about what she'll miss when I'm not there - it's nice to feel so valued.

Very proud of DD - we've been told she's one of the best singers at nursery so she's been asked to go in on an extra day (a day she wouldn't normally be there that is) to perform in their little Christmas concert. It would normally be a day I was at work but with mat leave, I'll be there. Cue hormonal blubbing at my beautiful little girl singing her heart out no doubt!

CheeseandGherkins · 18/11/2010 20:16

japh wow that seems so little to me as this baby does not stop moving. When I was on a trace the other week I had about 95 or something silly in 45 mins and that's the norm for her! With the show, I had one really early with DS2, about 33 weeks or so but waters went properly at 39 weeks and had him then. I'm sure with DS1 though that I didn't get the show until I was actually in active labour.

Feeling so uncomfortable again and getting sick and tired of it. Hips are aching, back hurts, BH's hurt, bloody fed up and I'm only 35 weeks.

MrsSnaplegs · 18/11/2010 20:59

Wow busy day here!
Button - rest and take it easy!
Kellestar - wasn't it your mil helping with the decorating ? If so she sounds like my mum! Hope you're ok now, must have been scary
4 working days left here - had to spend an hour and half at work just trying to sort out one colleague and his odour problems, seem to have come up with a solution that will work whilst I am away on mat leave and means my 2 admin assistants don't resign!! Not my job to sort it but my boss wouldn't do it!!
My mother visiting on sat - dreading it as she is quite strange, I think I may be joining the stately homes thread as she is definately a narcissistic personality - things you learn on mn which suddenly make sense of things!!
Pjen welcome back glad you are coping ok - it does get easier!

heidipi · 18/11/2010 21:21

Baby news from an occasional poster - our lovely girl was born yesterday morning!! I was induced at 38 wks because my bp was creeping up - if anyone else is induced early, don't make my mistake and expect it to take ages to get going, I missed all the early signs that things were progressing til the last minute ("oh that's why this early labour is so much more intense than I thought it'd be, this is actually what they call transition is it?") and she was very nearly born in the lift on the way down to the labour ward!! No time for the epidural I was looking forward to either, but anyway we're all fine (she's 6lb 10, no name yet) and can't wait to get home, hopefully tomorrow.

I haven't been much of a contributor, but am looking forward to hearing about all your gorgeous babies over the next few weeks. Hope everyone is doing well and not suffering too much - have caught up a bit with the thread but there's too much to take in on an iPhone!

Take care everyone x x

SlightlyTired · 18/11/2010 21:52

Congratulations Heidi - what wonderful news! Glad everything is OK - enjoy snuggling with your brand new LO. Smile

Wholelottalove · 18/11/2010 22:29

Hi everyone, just wanted to check in as seem to have had really busy couple of days and not got onto MN much. I'm really tired, and having some real problems sleeping. Just feel physically drained too. 36 weeks tomorrow and I'm feeling quite fed up - had enough now!

Is anyone else feeling grumpy/down? I've been feeling really grouchy and miserable the last couple of days. I'm not sure if it is just because I am tired or pregnancy hormones or what. My pelvis is really starting to play me up again and I'm getting quite a bit of pain with it now so that isn't helping.

Heidi many congratulations on your little girl. Let us know what you decide to call her :)

Button hope you are able to tie things up at work, but remember to take it as easy as possible too.

ButtonAzure · 18/11/2010 22:31

Congratulations Heidi - that sounds like it happened very fast! Hope you have a lovely first few days with her :)

Thanks everyone for your comments. I feel like have just had a big fat shock at the idea that my body will play these little tricks with my perfected plans of just sweeping all the way through till EDD! Have definatly been woken up to the concept of resting as long as i can. Better late than never I guess!

Boss is cool and slick non-parent.. not sure he is au fait with concept of mucus plug or bloody show - think i should try to enlighten him?!

Sent him a spanking handover overview document that i put together when I finally crawled out of bed this afternoon. Have lots more yet to do but that should be helpful if i go off radar imminently.

:( hospital waiting and uti slightly

max your DD sounds very sweet with the singing!

MrsSnaplegs · 18/11/2010 23:12

Congrats heidipi! Welcome to the world miniheidipi Grin

has anyone heard from OWO recently?

DuelingFanjo · 18/11/2010 23:23

Congratulations Heidi

Just seen my mum and she says her labour with me took just six hours! eeek!

SlightlyTired · 19/11/2010 00:30

Button, LOL at thought of you enlightening your boss.

WLL I hear you on the grumpy/down thing - which is totally ridiculous given that I have nothing to feel that way about - I have just finished work, am about to have a cuddly baby, and have a lovely prospect ahead of me of being a full time mummy for a while. Mind you, could have something to do with the sore pelvis, lack of sleep, and general fed-upness with the state of pregnancy. I mean - it is gone midnight and I have just come downstairs because, yet again, I cannot sleep. Arrgh. Tomorrow - or should I say today - is going to be quite a challenge with 3yo... If only she hadn't dropped her daily nap at 18 months...

Maxpower, so sweet re singing DD. I confidently predict that you will be a teary mess at that concert. Wink

DuelingFanjo · 19/11/2010 06:27

I woke up too early and can hear DH snoring in the other room Angry I really need him to sort this out because I have to dismantle the spare bed soon. Also just discovered the toilet has a leak from the cistern! Arrgghh

On the other hand, it's Friday - my last day! Hopefully I can take it easy.

MrsSnaplegs · 19/11/2010 07:03

Morning all sorry your still not sleeping because of DH/ DP snoring! Last time I found at this stage it was easier to sleep propped up on the sofa with loads of pillows and a duvet ! I'm lucky DH doesn't snore often and if he does I just tell him to roll over and he stops Grin

Miffster · 19/11/2010 07:17

DF enjoy your last day! Earplugs for the snoring?
Heidipi Congratulations, how lovely!
Button, oooh good luck, how exciting, get some rest now lady!
WLL sorry you are feeling ratty. maybe it is a sign of imminence?
C&G you sound knackered, hope you are able to get some respite soon too, good luck with the home birth plans
Pjen and Lavita, thanks for the dispatches from the shores of new motherhood

notso good luck with the itching Envy at your freezer full of deliciousness
reshape sorry about breech wories. there is still time... apparently only 4% stay breech, am sure you are doing spinning baby stuff, crawling round the room after drinking juice, etc etc - good luck
Slightly baby shower sounds great, boo to the UTI though
LittleB, Kellestar and everyone else with SPD, hope you get some proper help and a good plan for the next few weeks including the birth. kellestar how annoying about your MIL and how scary, really feel for you as I was there last week with the scare and it was bad enough without a hysterical unhelpful person flapping! LOL at the hat
Cheryl raspberry leaf tea basically tastes of...leaves. I stick a fruit teabag in with it and it's better.
max how lovely about your talented DD!
MRsS how nice only a few days left, odd that you had to deal with smelly colleague though!

Good news from me - had scan yesterday with lovely 32 weeks pregnant sonographer and Tiny is upsidedown not breech and not back to back. Yay and hurray for the beanbag and not leaning backwards regime! He keeps swinging from left to right and was very active, lots of kicks and arm waving, and he is already 7lb 3oz (I know the scan is usually out on weight though). He has a big head like me and DH . I still think I am 37 weeks not 36. But he has yet to drop into full lock and load position, I think - lots of weeing but no feeling of head on cervix yet as other people describe.

Had a lovely day yesterday after good news scan seeing a fellow pg lady for cake and then my sister came over. Today, lunch with my best friend. Tomorrow, Strictly and X factor at a friends house with home made cake and canapes. Lots of nice things lined up so hope I get to enjoy wafting about on maternity leave for a bit yet

We need a new thread...any suggestions?

crazykat · 19/11/2010 07:19

Congratulations Heidi enjoy this time with your LO.

WLL I've been really grumpy this past week, I think it's the lack of decent sleep and being fed up of not being able to lie comfortably at night.

Another early morning for me. DD has had an aweful cold which I've now got and she's taken to waking up at 5am and trying to get in our bed - something she's never done before. This close to EDD there's no way I'm letting her get used to it so I have to keep getting up and taking her back to bed which then makes me feel mean.

DF defo take it easy once you start mat leave. Use it to get some rest before baby arrives.

DC's are already driving me nuts, how on earth am I going to manage with a new born too? Hopefully DH will be home most of the first few weeks though as he's taking two weeks paternity leave and then a couple of weeks off for christmas as he's got most of his holidays left and doesn't need them for anything else.
