Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Well still not feeling good here...tightenings and I've been having diarrhea (sorry for the tmi) after I eat, I've had it all weekend and prob around a week to a lesser extent but today it's got a lot worse. Even water is going through me, I'm so worried it signifies early labour and/or could set things off :(

DF that sounds like a clot to me, don't want to alarm you but dh has had 3 in his leg plus a pulmonary embolism and you should get seen today. DH said you should feel behind your knee and if it's up there it will be really tender (gets worse as time goes on), also your calf will be a lot hotter where the clot is and possibly clammy also red/blotchy is possible. Please don't leave it, they diagnose by ultrasound so it will be safe too. Please call up or just go to a&e today!!!

SlightlyTired · 31/10/2010 15:35

DF I don't want to sound alarmist but I think if I would you I would try to get checked out today. It could be DVT which is pretty serious stuff.

Miffster · 31/10/2010 15:52

C&G good luck, sounds a bit [eek], have you called the hospital for a quick chat yourself and described the symptoms? Might be an idea...

CheeseandGherkins · 31/10/2010 15:58

Miffster I figured as I'll be going in first thing in the morning to MFAU to be monitored that I'd tell them then unless I get a lot worse. The children are out trick or treating with dh after but if I need to stay in tomorrow then I'm resigned to it. Will be making sure I have a bag packed just in case. Have to see how I get on, trying to drink lots too.

Miffster · 31/10/2010 16:08

Well, hope you feel better soon!

japhrimel · 31/10/2010 17:32

PJen - hope everything is going smoothly and your LO is fine. Sounds like you're being well looked after though.

C&G - make sure you're all packed and call the AU if it doesn't ease. Good luck!

DF - hope you're doing okay!

CheeseandGherkins · 31/10/2010 17:45

Thanks Miffster. japh will definitely get one packed soon once the children are back from trick or treating, they look so cute all dressed up! Dd is a vampire cat (and scared one of our cats hehe), Ds1 is an undead caveman type thing and ds2 is a vampire [hgrin] Expecting some knocks here soon.

How's everyone else this evening? Hoping to find a scary film for later on or at least some scary stories on here!

Pjen I really hope you're holding your little darling baby by now and that you're both doing well. Still thinking of you.

chloesbaby · 31/10/2010 18:07

Pjen thinking of you and very excited on your behalf that you will soon be holding your baby.

MrsSnaplegs · 31/10/2010 18:41

Still thinking of you pjen and hope you are both snuggled up together. More unpacking done, we can see the floor on some of the rooms at least. The cot Is finally built but room is still being used for storage!!

laurenamium · 31/10/2010 20:28

Still thinking of you PJen

DF I would maybe ring now and tell them your symptoms...it wouldnt do any harm to be over cautious...or maybe Im a hyperchondriac? Grin

Getting sick of halloweeners now, I didnt mind the earlier cute ones that had made the effort and sang me a song for my efforts of hauling myself off the sofa...but now its later its the awful teenagers that are just wandering around in normal clothes plus a scarf or mask at a push, after money for eggs...which will only end up over my windows eventually...keeping on smiling and handing out the haribo....

SlightlyTired · 31/10/2010 20:37

DF let us know how you are when you get a chance. [hbiscuit]

C&G hope your sickness etc settles down. Could you have been overdoing it? I stupidly went for quite a long walk yesterday, and I was in SUCH pain afterwards with awful tightenings - felt like the baby was going to drop on the floor. Climbing over stiles in my 36th week was probably a v bad idea, on reflection. Hmm Also gave me a little insight into what bad SPD must be like (I have only had a mild case thus far) and I really do feel for all of you who have been suffering with it. Hideous.

We have also had a lovely spooky evening here - joined the rest of the young families in the village for a Trick or Treat walk, en masse - a surprising number of children! So much fun and DD was beside herself with excitement (is now sleeping as only an exhausted child can sleep). I'm not far behind her, actually. This pregnancy lark is starting to get exhausting again.

PJen, thinking of you. Smile

ButtonAzure · 31/10/2010 22:00

Pjen thinking of you, hope you are being looked after and everything is going ok with you both.

C&G hope it goes well in the morning with you as well.

Halloween (and october) nearly over now, how quick, the 'when are you having it' answer will be 'next month' very lovely!

MrsS hope you get a really good night sleep in the new house and catch up!

I went out to a work collegues halloween party last night, and actually dressed my bump up as a pumpkin.. bit ridiculous but couldn't work out what else to do with it! made a few people [hsmile]

fingers crossed for a more peaceful week for everyone this week

SlightlyTired · 31/10/2010 23:01

Groan, spoke too soon. Had just dropped off into lovely peaceful sleep when dh came to bed, woke me up, and then fell asleep himself. Angry now am wide awake. Think I will make him sleep in spare room from now on...

DuelingFanjo · 01/11/2010 00:15

hi there

sorry all. I decided to wait until tomorrow and see how the leg feels then as it's stopped hurting now. I can call the surgery first thing if it's bad. Sorry, not ignoring advice really and thank you all for thinking of me. I just felt a million times better so thought it best to wait :)

PJen · 01/11/2010 05:21

Hi girls,
First I want to say that I have read all your wonderful messages and thank you so much! I m not thanking you one by one as almost every and each of you had written a wonderful message.

Second, our daughter Sophia-Rose is here! She ended up being a Halloween girl!! Here is the story: as I said before I had broken my water on Tuesday but wasn't sure. Next day I measured myself and I had lost 2 lbs but didn't connect the dots. Then GP on wednesday said I measure 3 weeks behind while I was always the right size but still I didn't get it. Saturday I felt wet and went to QCCH and they admitted me right way for monitoring. Then they gave me steroid shots nd ideally they wanted me to give birth 48 hours fter that. I started contracting but the labour turned out slow so there was hope. Last night around 7 PM DD's heart beat started droping and they took me to theatre. Loved the c-section experience! What a professional crue and such nice smiley people too. Their bedside manners were awesome and they explained me everything. Spinal block was a walk in the park and the most painful experience in the whole procedure were the steroid injections and putting IV line in my hand! DD ws born at 9:20 PM after 10 min of cutting. I felt something but actually couldn't say wht the doctors were doing. The showed her to me but since she was premie they right away took her away (this was explained and agreed with me before and I wanted her to be checked first as I was really unhappy nd worried about her being preterm). Turned out she didn't need ny extra treatment nd is as healthy as a full term newborn! She is pink with very delicate features. Her features are copy paste of his fathers but she is darker as I am dark brunette. Colourwise she is between me and her blond father. She was 5lbs 15 oz so almost 6 pounds and has chubby cheeks! She is sleeping with me in a private room and makes adorable noises while asleep. I m blessed that is all over and turned out that she was just ready. She loves sleeping and have to wake her up to feed. But have hard time as she doesn't latch and both times till now MW have asked to give her bottle as she is premie and they were worried about her blood sugar. But from tomorrow I will insist that she takes my colestrum (never know how to spell this). I hven't slept for 48 hours but am too excited to sleep. I jump in sleep to make sure she is breathing and can't go to sleep. Oh to top it up, my c-section pain is not bad and I am already totally mobile nd lift the baby, feed her, go to washroom without help n so on.

Again thank you for thinking of us and for all lovel messages that brought smiles to my lips.

So now, who is next? :)

MrsSnaplegs · 01/11/2010 07:23

Welcome back pjen and welcome to the world Sophia-Rose - a beautiful name! So glad you are both ok and had a great experience of birthing even if a little early! Not me next I still have 4 weeks at work!

kellestar · 01/11/2010 07:26

Pjen so glad she's here safe and sound. You've bought tears to my eyes, your experience sounds scary as anything but also quite beautiful. Have a delightful time getting to know your lovely little girl.

93pjb · 01/11/2010 07:31

Congratulations pjen! What a lovely story, so pleased to hear she is such a beautiful healthy girl. I had similar issues with feeding dd when she was a bit early but she got the hang of it soon enough. I expressed and she was cup fed as that is supposed to be better than a teat in terms of not compromising bf. Has that been suggested? It looks like the tiniest amount of milk ever but it's what she needs! Hope you do sleep too at some stage!

DuelingFanjo · 01/11/2010 07:41

HUGE congratulatons on the birth of your little girl PJen. What lovely news to wake up to. Hope you make a speedy recovery from the C-Section and that you are both home soon.

emmaxmas · 01/11/2010 07:57

Congratulations pjen to you and your DH- wonderful news and what a good weight for being a few weeks early. Thank you for sharing your experience with us and am glad that you didn't find the c-section too bad. Love the name btw. Hope you get some sleep and that the feeding gets a little easier. Please not me next- 7 weeks to go still at work! Think I am totally nuts.Smile

Miffster · 01/11/2010 08:16

Oh, what a wonderful way to start the day! Massive congratulations Pjen - you sound so in love with your little girl, it's making me well up with joy for you! Welcome to the world Sophia-Rose! I love the name - it was what I was going to call my baby if he had been a girl (without the hyphen)!

Good luck with feeding and snuggling!

Lavitabellissima · 01/11/2010 08:24

So happy for you P Jen, what lovely news, I'm also going to Queen Charlotte now
.
I have my 34 week scan today, it's all going so fast.

Hope everyone is doing well.

SlightlyTired · 01/11/2010 08:53

Smile Smile Smile
Congratulations PJen on the safe arrival of your beautiful baby with the beautiful name. So pleased for you and your DH. Enjoy these first precious, precious days.

Strix · 01/11/2010 09:34

OMG, PJen, that really is a slightly extreme approach to getting your section. Smile

She is so not gonna like the Halloween birthday jokes in a few years. Smile

Great name, glad you are both well, and as I sit her fat and miserable at 32 weeks I must admit I am slightly Envy.

On another subject, I have started a thread on bank hols over maternity leave and just wondered if other have broached this subject at work yet?

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/employment_issues/1073672-Bank-Hols-whilst-on-mat-leave-when-you-get-more-than-statutory-holiday-entitlement

DuelingFanjo · 01/11/2010 09:42

Strix - will read the thread in a second but as far as I am aware you accrue bank holidays which fall after the time you go down to SMP. My SMP starts after 18 weeks (I have a generous employee) so I get all the bank holidays back which fall after that date.
