Hi everyone,
happy birthday mummyhill, have a lovely day.
i know everyone wants details of the birth of mia but i wouldn't dream of putting the details on here as it wasn't exactly a great experience, and i would basically scare the crap out of everyone. Mia is doing great and dp is trying to work out how to do links so i can show you all a pic of my beautiful dds.
sending labour vibes to you all xxx

mummyhill · 06/09/2005 20:05

Well crampy type pains are comming every 4 hours or so. Looks like I'm in for a long one again. Am going to tey and keep as mobile as possible at home for as long as possible. Community midwife is coming out tommorrow will see what she thinks. DH is praying that it all happens tommorrow as he wants time off work!!!

DD loved her afternoon at school, nanny dropped us up there and my sister collected us as they didn' think that the half hour walk (at dd's pace) between home and school was such a good idea.

DH has gone to fetch kebabs and chips with chillie sauce.

He doesn't know it yet but he will be giving me a back massage with clary sage later.

mummyhill · 06/09/2005 20:07

Bubbles after a fairly horrendous first birth and comparing notes with many of the other girls I know not much will scare me. Also it's a bit late for worrying now after all these babies have to come out some how and soon.

zoezebra · 06/09/2005 20:29

Happy Birthday Mummyhill .
Sounds like your labour pains are starting the same as mine really hope that your pains continue (in the nicest possible way} and lead to the arrival of your beautiful baby.
Feeling a bit more with it today, boobs not hurting quite so much and J a calm baby, unlike DD. I know its early days and that can all change so I won't speak too soon.
DD been playing up again and I have felt zonked out all day due to the early morning expressing. Going for an early night tonight, J asleep in DH arms watching footie and reading the paper, think DH is very pleased not be be out numbered now. Even our cats are female!!

milward · 06/09/2005 20:41

bubbles - if it would help you to post about your birth experience in terms of just talking about it then don't worry about us! Many of us have been through a tough time and will understand. Hope all is going well for you and little one xxx

mummyhill - happy bithday to you & little one hopefully!! Hope all goes well xxx

ZoeZ - things will settle down. I remember the transition to two kids as a tough one. Good luck here

Jessysmummy and everyone due around the 24th!! - how are you all doing? Here just big and sweating in the hot weather. My pil arrive tomorrow & my mil will stay so I can go into labour from tomorrow night if need be!! Off for a snack - must get the "waist" as big as possible!! Saw a photo of myself I I can't believe how I look!!!!

Daisydot · 06/09/2005 21:03

Saw the consultant this afternoon who seems to be a little concerned because at 38 weeks and 3 days I still have a lot of liquor surrounding the baby. A fortnight ago he seemed to think this was a good sign and said it means that the placenta is still working well and providing nourishment. But today, he said I should go and have another scan in a fortnight's time if the baby hasn't arrived, just to make sure things are still ok. Hmmmmmmm........... Has anyone else experienced this? Am trying not to worry, but there's a little niggle in the back of my mind. I am so close, yet so far....... Sigh.......
Hope everyone has had a good day and have managed to keep cool in this muggy heat. My ankles as almost as big as my thighs!!! LOL

Daisydot · 06/09/2005 21:15

Happy birthday mummyhill. I hope your extra special present arrives very soon, it sounds as if your baby bubble is about to pop soon.

Redhelen · 06/09/2005 21:38

Daisydot - yes my ankles and feet are very swollen too. Seems like your consultant is very confusing giving such varying opinions!

Hope every one sleeps well - and look forward to baby news soon!

Redhelen · 06/09/2005 21:40

KiwiKate - I hope things are progressing for you!

Take care xxx

pooka · 06/09/2005 22:01

Hi Zoezebra - glad Jasper is a calm baby. Hope you had a lovely early night and got as much rest as possible.

Nada, zilch, nothing happening here. DH is going to start a book at work tomorrow.

Bubbles - I for one would be very interested in your birth story. Have you posted it on the birth announcements section? That way people can look the other way if they're that way inclined. personally, after a bit of a rough time last time, I find that my appetite for hearing how everyone else got on, good or bad, is quite voracious.

Kiwifruit · 06/09/2005 22:58

Congratulations Bubbles!! Love the name

Milward - I'm due on the 25th, but frankly doesn't feel like anything is remotely close to happening . Personally, I think my dates are off - had a 35 day cycle, and don't think I would have ovulated until early Jan. Doesn't bear thinkinig about really...

I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow - can't wait, it looks disgusting at the moment. Am almost too embarrassed to leave the house . Had a facial and a pedicure today, which was lovely.

No posts from Katts for the last few days - wonder if she's the next?

Good luck KiwiKate and Mummyhill (and happy birthday MH!!) - hope things get moving properly soon!

franch · 07/09/2005 05:03

Hi all, 5am Wed and I'm still here ...

Had 2nd acupuncture session today and saw midwife (having daily checks now). Mw persuaded me to have a scan today (ie Wed) as I've been leaking amniotic fluid pretty regularly since Sat night. Just the look on her face and the tone of her voice took me right back to last time round - she's not bullying me at all but she brought the seriousness of what's going on home to me and I burst into tears right there. Was on quite a high last night, convinced the baby was coming, so came back to earth with a bump (to coin a phrase) today and have been really depressed and tearful. Have had quite a lot of pains tonight so am more hopeful - baby is also thrashing about like crazy - not sure what that means. Feel like she's really doing everything she can to fight her way out and it's my stupid body that's failing her. Maybe I'll never feel what it's like to go into labour spontaneously - I'm beginning to feel like my body just doesnt work that way.

I am finding myself looking at the pool set up in the bedroom and feeling despair. Whatever happens tho I am coming back from the hosp after my scan later, even if only to pick up my stuff - not going to allow myself to be 'detained' like last time!

So Wed = 10am scan (+ chat with consultant mw); 5.30pm acupuncture (final session).

Good luck everyone, as always, and thanks for the good vibes

Boompi · 07/09/2005 06:38

Will be thinking of you Franch ((hug))
I have now been getting very regular pains since 4pm yesterday. Where about 10 min apart and now 7 min but not too intense and only last about 45sec to a min at a time. I guess this could go on for days. No show or waters breaking.
Not sure if I should ask dh to stay home from work today or not.

Redhelen · 07/09/2005 07:24

My word - good luck Boompi & Franch!

Feel like I've gone several rounds with Mike Tyson - bad back, sore stomach - feel sick. Like you Boompi want dh to stay off work - as I don't think I could even get ds to school - but fearful this will then stop (as it did Sunday)

jessysmummy · 07/09/2005 08:18

Good luck Franch and Boompi! Franch - hope your fears are unfounded and that you manage to go into labour on your own. Bump sounds like a little fighter anyway!
Any sign of anything Mummyhill? Are you sharing your birthday? Hope all ok.
Milward and Kiwifruit and all others due towards the end of the month. Absolutely no sign of anything here. Can I nominate myself as the last sept thread member to produce anything? I've got a feeling about the 5th Oct!!

pooka · 07/09/2005 08:37

Nothing here, though everything was completely as the midwife predicted - niggly pains in cervix, bloody discharge, backache. But as had been warned that this would be the result of the agitation rather than true labour, took some paracetomol and went to sleep.
It suddenly occured to me that baby could be born on September 11th - is it wierd to hope it isn't???

mummyhill · 07/09/2005 08:40

Morning all, still here crampy pains are still arriving every three to four hours, think i may be leaking amniotic fluid have a bad head and backache. Have sent DH to work as there is nothing deffinate happening at the moment. Midwife is comming out today so will have a chat with her and see if she can see what is going on as the hospital have just told me to stay at home till everything is more regular, would of been a bit happier if i could of poppeed in and been hooked up to the monitor for a bit to see if everything is ok. Begining to think this baby will never arrive and that it is all in my imagination.

beatie · 07/09/2005 09:15

{{{{{{BIG HUGS}}}}}}} to all those who are having the 'am I, aren't I' in labour feelings.

Boompi - contractions 7-10 minutes apart lasting 45-60 seconds? I was told by my midwife to go to the hospital at that point. Sounds promising for you.

Franch ~ Good luck with the scan. I hope it shows everything to be perfect and that they'll leave you alone and give you longer to go into spontaneous labour. I imagine it must be so disheartening for you to see your 'plans' slipping away from you but try to think positively and don't allow yourself to get too worked up about it. I'm hoping your final accupuncture session will set you off

andif · 07/09/2005 10:10

Franch - you must be having your scan as I type, so good luck, sending labour vibes your way. You obviously had a bad experience of induction last time, but I have plenty of friends who have been induced with little trauma, so it may be OK even if this does have to happen - 2nd time round is generally better anyway!
Boompi - sounds like you are on your way - best of luck!
No signs here. Had clary sage in bath last night (tip from friend, mix it with milk as it then disperses instead of sitting in a film on top of the water), rasp leaf tea (yuck) but nothing. Resurfacing outside our house until 1am so no peaceful night - the whole house was shaking at one point!
Psychic (?!) friend has predicted I will have baby on due date - next Thurs, so not too bad I suppose. Stuffing chocolate, but heartburn not impressed! Must go and get some more gaviscon today!
Waist 41 inches and have put on nearly 3 stone!!! Mind you, not really into weighing/measuring usually, so not sure about increase and it was Christmas..... Could be worse on 3rd baby I suppose!

PiccadillyCircus · 07/09/2005 11:06

I don't post for about 48 hours and loads and loads of messages...

Congratulations bubbles and a lovely name too .

Good news is that the baby is definitely head down and engaged. So maybe it will come soon. I think I need to remember that my due date isn't until 16th September though, rather than think all the time that it might be about to arrive...

Although it would be nice to see my feet again .

Last day in my 20s....I am going to have lunch in Cafe Rouge, as DS is at nursery. Tomorrow my sister is coming to see DS (and me) and so will hopefully have a relaxing time.

Hope that all is going well franch - I am thinking of you.

Daisydot · 07/09/2005 11:16

Dear Franch,
Hope things get going on their own accord soon. I know how you must be feeling, I was induced the last time around and had a bad experience. I was also 'detained' in hospital after the birth. I so hope I can go into spontaneous labour, and am starting to worry that this won't happen, even though I'm a week an a half away from my dd 17/9.
A friend calle dme last night to say that there was a piece in the Sun yesterday about my consultant - it was not at all flattering (gross mispractice), and now that's given me something else to worry about! Off to make a whole pot of RLT to calm me down......... and hunt around for chocolate........

diane77 · 07/09/2005 11:20

hi all

still here too, have app with mw this pm to organise a date for induction. i hope i dont have to wait to long, im now worried as those fuel protesters ae planning blockades again what if tou go into labour and you cant get petrol!! The last time this happened it was chaos.
Im totally tired up all night with tightenings but they didny come to anything!!

mummyhill · 07/09/2005 11:37

Midwife has just been I could be like this for days yet apparently. She suggested nice long walks, sex and a bath. Apparently curry doesn't work if you are used to eating it and as we have one at least once a week that would explain why it didn't work

andif · 07/09/2005 11:38

Daisydot, who is your consultant? I am also at Kingston, so would be interested to know! For the sake of his anonymity, mine's name is four letters, beginning with A.......!!

nicksptw · 07/09/2005 12:16

Wow - lots of activity going on ! I'm having aching pains at night and woke up with horrendous cramp in my legs this morning. Went to midwife yesterday. She seems rather surly these days and pretty uncommunicative. Can't understand as she seemed quite nice to start off with. She just watched as I struggled to get the pushchair into the room past 2 badly placed chairs ! Her only major comment was that I might not make it to the next appointment in 2 weeks (39 weeks), although it looks like I might have a urine infection (protein in my wee). Might partly explain my weak bladder control at the moment. Has anyone else been suffering with this ? Pelvic floor exercises suck !
