I am NOT superstitious but ..... couldn't bear the thread that took us into September to be #13 !!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Boompi · 06/09/2005 11:14

It actually took me only 3 months to fall pregnant which was a shock to everyone!! Was just starting to have investigations done.
I do have 41 week appointment at hospital on friday so the end is in sight.
Think I will walk to cinema and try get mind off labour.
Only good thing about pregnancy is my hair is thicker and so think i will keep it long till afterwards. Dreading the hair loss you can get post delivery though.

mummyhill · 06/09/2005 11:21

Thanks Jessysmum.

beatie · 06/09/2005 11:29

Oh yes - that post-pregnancy hair loss. I'd forgotten about that. For me it happened around 4 months. Every morning I'd lift my head off the pillow and it looked like I'd left all my hair there.

mummyhill · 06/09/2005 12:43

Update time - cramp/stich in lower left quarter of bump, back ache and the trots. Just phoned hospital to see if i should be worrying and was told no just to sit tight till the contractions start/waters go as it sounds as if I may be going into labour!!!!

mummyhill · 06/09/2005 12:45

Maybe the walk to dd's nursery will get things moving!!

Redhelen · 06/09/2005 12:50

mummyhill - good luck - I'm sure it's a 7th September babyxxxxxxxx

pooka · 06/09/2005 12:55

Well, Midwife just been. Couldn't actually do a sweep as cervix too far back and not effaced, but had a bit of an "agitate" as she put it. Will be back another 2 times before Sunday to try and get things moving along. But unlikely to go into labour imminently, and baby is also back to back, which is another sign that it's not ready
So feeling a little fed up really, although relieved that tomorrow dd is going out with my dm.

andif · 06/09/2005 13:04

Franch is quiet - hope she's in labour and not just lurking in a depressed way!
Happy Birthday Mummyhill - hope your best present arrives tomorrow!
Back from hairdressers - looks the same only with no split ends! Find it much easier long as can just tie it back on a bad hair day.

beatie · 06/09/2005 13:13

Pooka ~ I'm sorry. Did you ay you think your due date could be a week behind based on your cycles? I hope things change rapidly for you over the next half of the week.

Did the 'agitating' hurt?

milward · 06/09/2005 13:23

lol redhelen - I should have put the widest part of myself!! Don't think I'll be seeing a waistline for a few months yet!!! as I've gained over 20 kilos!!
Good idea to go to the hairdressers - will force myself as I just hate having my hair done.
good luck to all xxx

irishmum · 06/09/2005 13:40

Happy Birthday,Mummyhill....
It's so reassuring that I'm not the only one who silently goes "more pain, please" every time I have a slight cramp!!I was early with my other two,and didn't feel prepared at all,and now I feel "ready" it's just not happening! My DP thinks I've turned into a raving nympho, and don't have the heart to tell him I'm just "using" him!!!Ah well,he's not complaining..
My friend's 3year old asked me yesterday,after staring for a while,if I had eaten a baby!Bless!
Am off to make a chicken curry, have nothing to lose..

LadyLazarus · 06/09/2005 14:12

Happy Birthday mummyhill, sorry must have missed that bit!Hope this is the start of things for you
Am back from hairdresser's now, feeling much more presentable! It's MUCH shorter tho, which will hopefully be easier to sort out with the new arrival (if she ever turns up! I am seriously having my doubts).

Irishmum - no I am the same, every little pain I'm like ooh this is it, waiting for the pains to get worse! I bet once labour proper starts I'll soon change my tune
Pooka - sorry your sweep didn't quite go according to plan. Perhaps whatever she HAS done will have some effect on getting things moving... here's hoping!
Boompi - 3 months is good then, considering your '90 day cycles'! I think you are right to try to distract yourself from thinking about the labour...it's easy to become fixated on dates and I can imagine how disappointing it will be for me too if / when I get to next Monday and nothing has happened. Just remember, you WILL be in labour soon!! And in 2 weeks or less you WILL be a mum!

singleteenagemum · 06/09/2005 15:14

Afternoon,
Milward - whats a waist again? just measured and mines 38inches....cant wait to lose it.

Pooka - that's what mw said about mine when i went in for monitoring on Sunday...and it really really hurt, she did have sharp nails though!!

Bubbles - that's a beautiful name, hope she's not too much hassle.

Happy birthday mummyhill

ladyL - hope the pampering has lifted ur spirits, i haven't eve got dressed yet today!

mummyhill · 06/09/2005 15:49

Am getting a few crampy pains so am hoping this is the start of things will carry on with rasberry leaf tea and start the caulophyllum 200 as they are supposed to improve the quality of contractions!!!

jessysmummy · 06/09/2005 15:51

Oooh Mummyhill. Hope this doesn't ruin your birthday! Good Luck x

pooka · 06/09/2005 16:01

Happy birthday Mummyhill.
Hi Beatie - yes, it hurt a bit. She's lovely though, and had made it clear that she was going to stop as soon as I showed any discomfort, so I was forewarned that she might not manage a full sweep. Pah - damn "unfavourable" cervix.
Baby fine though, bump spot on size, head down at least. She told me to keep active, but tbh I just want to curl up and sleep sleep sleep at the moment.
Funny - watched a Home Birth Diary on discovery the other day and it was filmed at my yoga class.

jessysmummy · 06/09/2005 16:35

Pooka - hope the pain of the "agitation" is worht it and you start moving towards the finish line soon.
Have come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as "nesting" - it's just shear boredom. I've only been on mat leave for 10 days and I'm already pulling my hair (now beautifully coiffeured after my visit to the hairdressers) out with boredom. I know there's more that I could be doing but it's just too damn hot!!

Boompi · 06/09/2005 16:41

Happy Birthday Mummyhill!

Waist measures 44in.

Managed an hours walk but was quite uncomfortable coming home from cinema. I am also finding it increasingly difficult to feel babys kicks possibly due to lots of BH. Its very strange when I look down and can see the kicks but cant feel it unless I put my hand on the bump! Ah - just excuses to eat chocolate

My friend has just had her twin boys - one just under and one just over 5lb. Cant wait to see them.

beatie · 06/09/2005 16:49

Any other time and I would be jumping with joy that we are having such a hot September and hence an extended summer.

Redhelen · 06/09/2005 16:50

Yes - my 'waist' measures 44 too -great as I'm just 5'3.

Still feeling mighty tearfull (don't know why though!) is any one else like this - it's really hit me late yesterday and all today!! do you think I need chocolate?!!

Dh - is determined that baby will come tonight - as he doesn't want to go back on training course tomorrow

beatie · 06/09/2005 16:54

The answer to the chocolate question is always YES!

mummyhill · 06/09/2005 17:01

We all need chocolate

jessysmummy · 06/09/2005 17:11

I've got a six pack of fox's caramel rocky bars...who wants one...oops only five left...better be quick!

Redhelen · 06/09/2005 18:03

jessysmummy Oh yes - can you 'vertial' one over!!!

They may not trigger labour - but they make you feel so much better about it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jessysmummy · 06/09/2005 18:05

Sending virtual chocolate vibes your way now, Redhelen!
