KPidgeon We also got a dvd at our nuchal scan but it isnt offered everywhere, where I'm training doesn't do it.
I'm still feeling sick everyday and have heartburn, am also getting spd aswell.

haloflo · 13/10/2010 20:43

catherine I'm petrified too (first timer), its going to be the biggest change in our lives!

I would also be interested in learning how others describe movement. I keep feeling a "tickle" - could this be the baby? I keep thinking I imagine it too as the second I move my hand nearer, it goes!

My 20 week is 3 weeks tomorrow (4th Nov) I cannot wait to check everything is ok. No 16 week appointments round me and it feels like a wait long from 11 weeks to get reassurance. Hopefully these "tickles" are a good sign.

Muser · 13/10/2010 21:17

When I first started feeling movement it felt like bubbles bursting. That's how someone else described it to me first, and it was very true.

However, I have since decided a more accurate description is "it's like farting in the bath". Please feel free to share that. Grin

You're right jeffily - she is of course 22 months Grin

I found that having DD was so outside my breadth of life experience to date that there was really nothing I could have done to prepare myself!

I get all sorts of odd pains, less so this time (so far) than with DD, I'm not sure whether that's because everything is stretched already or because I am generally paying less attention this time as it is not so new and exciting!

A good rule of thumb is probably that if it goes off when you move or rest or dieappears after a few minutes and you have no other symptoms then it is probably just one of those weird pregnancy things Smile

MummyGeorgie · 13/10/2010 21:36

muser great description!!

Had me in stitches... I had to explain why I was laughing to DH. He just frowned at me and said, with a completely befuddled look 'But girls don't fart.... especially not in the bath!!" Bless.

Jupiter118 · 13/10/2010 21:58

Muser - love the description!!!!

1st time ladies - don't be scared - there will be moments like the Krypton Factor, but on the whole wonderful.

I think I haved begun to feel movement (bubbles) - think it is slightly earlier than last time (can't really remember as 4 years ago) - lay in the bath earlier this evening to see if I could see tummy moving whilst I felt the movement, but couldn't see anything. This is possibly cos of the jelly belly remainders from no 1.

On that note think I am beginning to have a bump thank goodness, though sure some people think am just a salad dodger. V annoyingly a girl in my dept at work is also preggers - she is 13/14 weeks, but still in her normal clothes and looking slim as anything - annoying.

Is it only 3 weeks until 4th November - my scan is then also. Am quite nervous tbh. Also have consultant's appt as high BP and mild pre-eclampsia last time. Hoping this pregnancy will not have to do 24 hour wee sample!!

Anyway on that note - back to viewing of apprentice - embarrassed to be a woman!

xx

ps - new look coat arrived - v quick delivery and v nice for £40

Jupiter118 · 13/10/2010 21:59

pps

might we need a new thread soon - hoping someone knows how as I have only recently worked out how to post!

Muser · 13/10/2010 22:05

We've got quite a lot of posts left, I think we'll last a few more days. Depends how chatty we are.

Sadly I do not feel the bubbles anymore. I know everything is fine as this was before the scan and heartbeat is good and all that, just a shift of position so I can't feel much. I get a little wave occasionally. I can't wait to get them back again.

OP posts:
Jupiter118 · 13/10/2010 22:15

I'm sure they (the bubbles) will be back soon Muser - all too soon whole limbs will be apparent.

Forgot to say re: pains - i get random twinges which feel a bit like a little someone has prodded a nerve or curled up in such a way that prods something that feels uncomfortable. Had to get up and walk around in a meeting last week in attempt to encourage repositioning.

Glad we have a bit to go on thread (clueless Grin) as took me ages to save link into my blackberry.

spilttheteaagain · 13/10/2010 22:23

Hi all,

Just wanted to stick my head in again and say I am thinking of you all and hoping things are all going well, but I'm going to take a break from this thread as it's very hard to read about all the pregnancy things I was in the middle of Sad

I'll come and see how you're all doing in a while. Lots of love xxx

Jupiter118 · 13/10/2010 22:43

Love to you also spilt! xx

1Catherine1 · 13/10/2010 23:35

Take care Spilt, xx

StrangewaysHereICome · 14/10/2010 09:38

I'll miss you Spilt but it might be for the best so you can give yourself time to heal. Take care and look after yourself xxx

I'm being a misery today, I feel rubbish with a banging head and feeling nauseous all over again. I havent been sleeping too well which is probably why. Mind you I have now got a lurvely body pillow which is like a sausage shaped bean bag which is ace. It is so comfy to cuddle up to - I might love it more than DH!! His nose is out of joint but like I say it just accepts hug and wants nothing more Wink.

I had my hair cut off yesterday - I had a strange compulsion as it was really annoying me, but the hairdresser didn't really understand what I wanted. So I now have a bob and I wanted a more funky choppy style - nevermind maybe next time. It's still much better than before Smile.

Baby strange is very active, there is no mistaking the movement. If I bend over I get a massive boot in my side - I am going to be kicked to pieces by 40 weeks. Something else to worry about - is it gong to be a big one. We didn't find out the sex at the scan, but as I mentioned above I think I saw boy bits - but I am not certain!!

I had better go and do something construction methinks - take care all x

StrangewaysHereICome · 14/10/2010 09:40

construction? Hmm maybe just something constructive instead Grin.

pushmepullyou · 14/10/2010 10:31

Look after yourself spilt x

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 14/10/2010 11:35

Hello all, sorry been off line for a few days - and about to go away again.

Split my thoughts are still with you, your post was so heartbreaking but you have been so amazingly strong. Bobbie is in my prayers as are you and your DH - good luck with everything.

Muser, have been a bit concerned that my movements felt less (still there, just not as strong) but when I finally used Doppler heartbeat seems to have moved upwards towards my belly button, so am also hoping it's just a shift in position.

Have my 20 week scan on Monday and to be honest am absolutely petrified. DH won't be around (as per usual - still working abroad) so am going with my mum Blush. Just don't know how I'll cope without his support (long distance just doesn't count) if anything is wrong.

Feel I ought to end on a happier note - but today I woke up with swollen glands and a killer sore throat so not feeling very chipper!

Muser · 14/10/2010 12:01

NowPanic apparently movement changing or disappearing at this point is quite normal as it's so early and the baby small, so a shift of position can be the difference between feeling and not. Mine sort of had its back to us when I had the scan, and apparently you're less likely to feel anything when that happens. I'm sure everything will be fine for your scan.

I'm having a repeat one on Monday as well as they couldn't check everything due to baby's position. We can be scan buddies.

Larty74 · 14/10/2010 12:02

I have also felt like my movements have subsided slightly and it does make you worry esp after not only feeling but seeing my belly twitch only few days ago. but then I did have a coffee, a glass of coke, some chocolate and cake all in that same day. (oops) Blush

scan next tues morning. excited but still a little nervous, but not as much as the 1st one.

still praying for you spilt take care and come back when you are ready!

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 14/10/2010 12:24

Larty and Muser - am so glad it's not just me! Am feeling very reassured - thank you.

Good luck to you both for scans - will let you all know how it goes. Fingers crossed for us all Smile

superpenguin · 14/10/2010 16:27

love reading everyone's descriptions of movements / feelings. I still have nothing definite (am 19wks+6 today) but get odd 'twinges' occasionally. To me it doesn't feel like anything moving or like bubbles or butterflies or anything, but more like a very very mild pain (not even painful at all but so can just feel it) a bit like period pain but very localised in a very small area (which area can vary) and only lasts a couple of seconds. And only get this very occasionally, like once or twice a day, and not every day. But I assume this is the baby.
Anyway, I have my 20-week scan tomorrow so will see what they say then!

Medee · 14/10/2010 16:45

SuperP, I have something like what you describe. Too vague for me to be sure it is the baby.

gem3225 · 14/10/2010 19:57

hi everyone, its so exciting to hear about ur scans and the mvements.

im 19 weeks 1 day and got my 20 week scan on the 25th, cant wait but bit scared.

As for movement, i get lots of bubbles and my tummy is very vocal!!
i have had the odd thuds and funny feelings like im being tickled from inside, it makes me laugh to myself but i cant quite work out if its bubs or wind.

My appetite has slowed down too, seem to have lunch and then im not hungry in the evening but i have put on 7 lbs!!, as for a bump well its getting there, its quite hard but not really that noticable.

My best friend told me she is 10 weeks with her 2nd which is so exciting.

Anyway, halfway mark girls xxx (smile)

niamh29 · 14/10/2010 21:19

Hi guys, glad to hear all the movement stories, I'm hoping I'll be feeling the first movements soon, I find the best thing to do is after your evening meal sit down and concentrate on your tummy, with those first movements you do have to concentrate to feel them, baby moving is the best thing about pregnancy, it's amazing!

I had a doc apt today at 17 weeks and heard the heartbeat for the first time, it was great and reassuring to hear a good strong regular heartbeat straight away, doc said baby is a good size and everything seems good and normal so I'm very happy!

sam26oscar · 14/10/2010 21:59

muser and nowpanic i also have 20 week scan on monday Grin
it was meant to be today but D.H was away on exercise so moved it to next monday when i'll be 20+4 so just in time!!!
movements are definite thuds now and can even feel them when i'm walking around!! Saw midwife again today, i am very lucky in that there is a sure start clinic every thurs and one of my old school friends is the midwife there!!!! Heard the heartbeat and generally chatted about pregnancy. Apparently baby big enough now for me to feel movements in 2 different places at once!! And yes baby still got loads of room to float around in and perfectly normal to not feel movements as much some days. Hope that reassures some of you!!
Driving to Belgium in the morning for my nieces christening so had better find something suitable to wear, bit late now but there we go!! Hope all have good weekends. x

MummyGeorgie · 14/10/2010 22:12

Take care spilt. Our thoughts remain with you. x
