Yuk, yuk, yuk. Sorry to anyone who's still pregnant but bloody hell! Baby waterwitch arrived at home last night at 10.15pm after a horrible, brutal and shocking 7 hour labour. For a supposedly easier second baby she sure wasn't. (different partner though for anyone worrying - ex dh was Indian and 5'11", my now dp is Caucasian, 6'4" - apparently Indian babies are usually smaller according to my ex MIL) Wondered why it bloody hurt so much only to discover that she was 9lb bloody 8oz, which is why I needed 2 stitches and have various vile tears. Screamed the house down, thank god ds was at my mum's. It was much harder than last time since ds was only 7lb and the midwives said I was most definitely not a wuss and managed really well considering her size and mine (I'm 5'3" ) They got a bit worried towards the end as her shoulder was stuck but they screamed at me to push so I did, to the sound of my perineum tearing. Ouch, ouch, ouch. Still, I'm glad she's finally here after all the angst, although it's a shame my fear turned out to be justified. Despite it all, I'm glad I stayed at home since the midwives agreed I'd have ended up with some kind of intervention if I'd have been in hospital (like drugs? Shit, should have gone in then ) and at least dp was with me and we were all go to sleep in our own bed when it was all over. Wouldn't ever do it again if you paid me a million quid. Good job I don't have to then...Still no name, suggestions welcome.

Thank you so much everyone, I'm really touched by all these messages - thanks to everyone who emailed me too. I cried a bit yesterday but feel OK today and am beginning to fall in love with her (I know, but it wasn't immediate tbh!). I'm going to print this off and keep it forever Still no name but dp is gradually coming round to Ava so I'll let you know when we've decided...

WWW love, it took me a good six months to fall in love with dd1. It wasn't immediate with dd2 either. I'd say it's only now. So you are doing amazingly well.

Enid · 02/12/2003 15:19

www, I cried after I had dd1 because I loved my new kitten more than her

Can laugh about it now as I fell in love with her eventually, but it took a couple of days, I think its normal after a traumatic birth, dont worry x E

WWW - I've lost your email! When you get a spare mo can you send me one to reply to please????? I was going to send you an E-Card! Ava is a lovely name, but there's no rush for that just yet. Make the most of your little one whilst she's still so new and lovely and I hope you are being thoroughly spoiled - you deserve it! I am really, really pleased for you!
