Yuk, yuk, yuk. Sorry to anyone who's still pregnant but bloody hell! Baby waterwitch arrived at home last night at 10.15pm after a horrible, brutal and shocking 7 hour labour. For a supposedly easier second baby she sure wasn't. (different partner though for anyone worrying - ex dh was Indian and 5'11", my now dp is Caucasian, 6'4" - apparently Indian babies are usually smaller according to my ex MIL) Wondered why it bloody hurt so much only to discover that she was 9lb bloody 8oz, which is why I needed 2 stitches and have various vile tears. Screamed the house down, thank god ds was at my mum's. It was much harder than last time since ds was only 7lb and the midwives said I was most definitely not a wuss and managed really well considering her size and mine (I'm 5'3" ) They got a bit worried towards the end as her shoulder was stuck but they screamed at me to push so I did, to the sound of my perineum tearing. Ouch, ouch, ouch. Still, I'm glad she's finally here after all the angst, although it's a shame my fear turned out to be justified. Despite it all, I'm glad I stayed at home since the midwives agreed I'd have ended up with some kind of intervention if I'd have been in hospital (like drugs? Shit, should have gone in then ) and at least dp was with me and we were all go to sleep in our own bed when it was all over. Wouldn't ever do it again if you paid me a million quid. Good job I don't have to then...Still no name, suggestions welcome.

Oh well done WWW! A virtual medal winging its way to you for bravery!

sprout · 01/12/2003 19:47

Well done, WWW, and congratulations! Having been in labour (and a miraculously easy one) only 3 weeks ago, I was shuddering in empathy/memory reading this. Don't even want to think about your poor perineum - but hope it recovers really quickly. Hope you get some time to rest and enjoy your dd at home now. Can't help on names - it took us 9 months to decide so I've run out of inspiration. Love the watery suggestions, though.

Just look at the size of...this thread. Many congrats WWW, sorry it was a sore arrival but well done and lots of love to you all. It's got to be Ava, surely...and wasn't there a naughty legendary water witch called Melusine? Give her a big kiss from her 1000s of virtual godmothers, and find yourself a big cushion to sit on.

Thank goodness it's all over! Congratulations and well done. don't worry about your fears (if I've understood you correctly) Let us know about the name.

Janstar · 02/12/2003 08:41

Congratulations sounds like you deserve them after that feat. I do envy these women who give birth in 20 minutes, IMO labour is a nightmare, I really understand where you are coming from. I do hope you feel better soon, and have lots of help while you recover - emotionally as well as physically. And if you never do it again, you can look at your two lovely children and be happy with what you have.

Metrobaby · 02/12/2003 08:50

Congratulation WWW - you're v brave - I for one coulnd't have done without the drugs had I of been in your position. At least it is all over and you can enjoy your little girl. Well done!
