been with my grandad all day.

The infection has just shattered his lungs, hes gone up to 100% pure oxygen and his oxygen levels aren't even at a normal level, they are still way below (a healthy person breathes only 21% oxygen in the air)

All he wants to do is go home to die, but he cant be on 100% oxygen outside the hospital, only 35% at most, they said he wouldn't even make it home in an ambulance.

He keeps saying 'this isn't how I wanted it to be'

Hes been so brave.

Hes just allowed them to give him 2 doses of oral morphine, he wont take an injection.

I'm a mess, Im scared I wont see him again and Im scared to go back tomorrow if he is here, I don't want to see him in pain.

I am so sorry.

My Nan died nearly 4 years ago and I still miss her such a lot.

benfmsmum · 19/03/2009 20:08

So sorry for you, sending you lots of comfort and love

queenrollo · 19/03/2009 20:23

my Gran died 3 and a half years ago from cancer. It all happened in a matter of 3 weeks. She so wanted to be at home when she died, but it became impossible to care for her at home and she had to go back into hospital. This was so hard for the family, but when the end came she had family with her and she was peaceful and in no pain.....and the family took comfort from that.
I am so sorry that you are going through this, i can't say anything that will make it better or easier to deal with, but want you to know that there are people here for you who know what you are going through and will listen if you need us to.

Disenchanted3 · 19/03/2009 20:27

Just to let you know he passed at about 10:20pm very, very peacefully.

I am so relieved that he was no in pain and did not suffer.

I am sad, I keep crying but feel strangly relieved that he is no longer scared.

helsbels4 · 20/03/2009 09:54

So sorry for your loss . Do you have photos of him around your house? My mum died nearly four years ago and I have photos of her in several rooms and "talk" to her every day. I sound like a loon but it helps me x
