Transporting bedbound person to a funeral

Does anyone have experience of getting someone who is bedbound to a funeral? A sad story, my fil died recently and we are trying to think through all the steps and options to get his wife to his funeral, which is likely to be in a church around 1/2 mile away. Will a private ambulance wait for the duration? Do we pay for carers / nurses to help lift her correctly into a wheelchair? (This has happened only maybe 4 times in 3 years for hospital visits, so we’re not even sure if she could physically sit for an hour or so.) It feels like a jigsaw and any experience of this would be so appreciated.

Can the hearse do a drive by the house and special flowers be placed on the coffin there.

Video link.

The vicar may also do a home vist afterwards.

Worked well for us.

@stayathomegardener the funeral has been and the OP has updated with how it went

I think it would be an awful upheaval for her. My GM was unwell at the time and didn't attend my GF's funeral - this was before the days of watching online. We went to visit her beforehand and spent some time with her. She died herself five weeks later.

I would discuss it with the funeral directors if she really wants to go.

*Whoops, I see the funeral has already happened and she did go. That's great news.

Pleased to read she managed to attend and you managed to overcome the obstacles This old chestnut.
