My DP has just died

He was away diving and I got a phone call this morning to tell me he died. I've had to tell his sister, I don't know what to do with myself. He's half the world away from me and I can't do anything.

Oh my God I'm so sorry, I wish I knew what to say to help. Do you have support?

My daughters are here with me. We've been together for 5 1/2 years. He was so full of life, looked after himself slim fit didn't drink much, didn't smoke did all the right things. It's so unfair. He's just reached retirement age, thought we'd grow old together.

The 'half the world away' thing is incredibly difficult, even though you couldn't do anything even
if he was here or you were there, the feeling of being so far away is awful.

I don't have any great suggestions of what to do with yourself, sorry. Just the usual, crap on TV, lots of tea. Any friends/family you can cope with having around?/to stay.

Anything physical you can manage? A walk, a swim?

My best friend is coming on Monday, I'm a flight away from her.

I'm going to try and go for a walk with the dogs this afternoon, we always walked them together every weekend.

I can fully understand the feelings of growing old together, DH died last year and I had the same feelings but a wise person said to me that we were meant to be together for the rest of his life, not the rest of our lives and in some way that helped me a bit. Losing your life partner is devastatingly hard. No words take the pain away.

I am.so sorry for your loss. I had a similar situation 15 months ago. I still ask myself,'did this really hsppen?'. The shock is awful. The loss of the partner and what might have been. Hand hold
