My son is dying

This is fucking cancer. He is 2. We are only 3 months from diagnosis and we are out of active treatment options.

I hate cancer, I hate the pandemic disrupting our world and keeping us from people we love.

He has been so tough she and strong and there is nothing more they can do, the cancer just keeps coming back.

I would give everything to keep him

blindspots I am so so sorry that you are now on this path as a bereaved parent, and that you have to miss your precious wee man

Getting up and making sure your dc are fed and loved is more than enough for you to deal with right now. Dont pressure yourself to do or feel anything right now. These things will come in waves, and it takes a while to get used to. You have to learn to live a whole new reality when everything feel so utterly surreal, so please make sure you give yourself a break.

When you are ready, and if you would like to share when your gorgeous wee mans funeral is I'm sure everyone on this thread will light a candle and do a wave of light across the UK on that day for you and your family

Oh blindspots I am so very sorry that he has slipped away.
I wish you and your family healing thoughts. Be gentle with yourselves, do whatever it takes to get through each day, hour or minute, even if that is just to breathe.
Talk as much as you need to, the counsellor I saw after I lost DD said not to worry about showing your grief to the children, it is sad, trying to behave like it isn’t only confuses them, they are smart, they know when mum isn’t her normal self.
I too found washing DD comforting, I’m glad you got to share it with your nearest and dearest. In the time to come looking, this memory of caring for him will bring you much comfort. It is a little symbol of how the bond between mother and child is stronger than life and death.
