FITH PREGNANCY, WITH FOUR M/C'S...HELP

Hi everyone, its been quite awhile since i've been on but her goes. I am on pregnancy #5 and scared to death. I have not had a sucessful pregnancy yet, It always seems to stop growing at around 7 1/2 weeks. This is my fourth pregnancy in one year and the docs have started there testing but nothing yet. Is there hope? Has someone else suffered from reacurante m/c's and finally had a baby?
It is really hard not to get my hopes up , like I did last time ---and was dissapointed in the end. Please, someone, anyone, this must happen to others with a happy ending...right?

hi there
I read an article earlier this year about steroids of some kind helping women who suffer multiple miscarriages. Its something to do with a blood deficiency of some kind. I sent it to my siste-in-law has also had several miscarriages but I will contact her and ask her the details if you are interested. It was a success story about a women who had had 5 miscarriages and then by chance found out about this treatment and had a healthy baby boy.
Fingers crossed that all goes well for you this time though.
Positive thoughts to you.

I vaguely remember that TKV, would it have been in the Sunday Times a few weeks ago? The doctor was not British-born IIRC, can't remember any more than that I'm afraid, but it may jog someone's memory....

Melliek have they ruled out that blood condition what is it? some kind of thrombosis/blood clotting thing. The placenta gets clots on it and can't function properly. I was thinking of a friend who had it only today... She told me that women can have many miscarriages with it BUT it is very treatable once dx'ed, and my friend has 2 gorgeous kids in spite.

Congratulations Melliek,

A good friend of mine had 5 miscarriages & had a healthy baby boy last year.Another lady I know had 10 m/c & 1 ectopic & also a healthy dd.

I hope everything goes well for you this time.You certainly deserve it.

Hi all, thank u all for your supportive words. They have checked for the clotting disease, progesteron....etc, etc. So, the only thing left now is to do the internal exploration. Obviously I can get preggers but I am wondering if my uterus is not thickening up enough. When they did my blood they checked for that and it was sufficiant. Lord I really hope that I dont have to go through more m/c's...how on earth do people get through it when it happens over and over? Where I live there are no self help groups so I am kinda flying on my own...thank God for these support groups!

Melliek, well done getting pg again!! Very best wishes to you. I had 2 mcs a little girl and then 3 mcs all this year. I lost all between 6 and 7.5 weeks 2 were just like late periods, 2 were just empty sacs and one had a fetal pole. More than happy to correspond here of for you to email me. Am also undergoing testing and trying again. Wrt the steroid treatment. A doctor Hassan Shehata pioneers that. Google on his name and you will find stuff. I am tempted by him but want to finsih local tests and then get a referral to St mary's recurrent miscarriage clinic in London first. I

Thanks all for the words of wisdom and encouragment. I think the thing that is bothering me the most is that my chances of having a full pregnancy now is only 60%. After four m/c's thats my chances. It doesn't sound very hopeful to me right about now. I just feel sick about this as the fear really starts to set in. I haven't even told my DH yet because I want to wait and see what will happen before I worry him.

I understand how you feel and about your not telling your dh. Do feel you can let off steam here. How far gone are you? Is it too early for a scan (6 weeks can see heartbeat)?

As hard as it sounds, you must try and stay positive, and keep that chin up. Maybee some meditation or yoga will help after my second m/c i was really depressed and started going to yoga at the end they put on nice music and i just closed my eyes and thought happy healing thoughts. As mystic as it sounds it really has helped. Go sit in the sun and remember that 60% chance is actually really good. It's much better than 3% chance, which is what some women have to even get preg. Congrat's and Good luck
PS You might have to give me some advice back when i get preg again!!!!

melliek - I know how you feel as 3 months ago I suffered my fourth miscarriage. My partner and I have had various tests carried out (such as ovulation, hormone, platelets, clotting, sperm) and today recieved the results back from our chromosome tests - taken 8 weeks ago - the results came back fine which is such a relief, but this also angers me as there is no reason for my miscarriages.
We are luckier than some as I have managed to have a gorgeous son - now four third pregnancy out of five) - but they say my miscarriages are "just bad luck".
I wish you all the best in your try for a baby and yes there can be a happy ending so look to the future with a smile.

Hi, I'm new to this site, but after a lot of wandering around on the net to try and find the answers I needed I came across this site. It was comforting to hear that I was not the only person on this planet going through re-occurent m/c as that is how I had been feeling. I am now on my third Pregnancy (11 weeks) and have my scan booked for Tuesday 26th October. I am scared to death, trying really hard not to get my hopes up. My first Pregnancy ended at 11 weeks when I started to bleed and once they saw nothing on the scan had to have a D&C, then second ended at 7 weeks, can anyone give me any advice to keep me sane for another 2 weeks until the scan please!

Eat chocolate (no alcohol or coffee - need some vices!). Breathe. Post on Mumsnet. Know you are not alone. Take it easy. Avoid anyone hwo drags yo udown. Do stuff just for you. I should know- have had 5 mcs and 1 baby and am pg again - 4 weeks. Please all stay in touch - I need you!

avoid anything with vitamin a in from supplements to face creams / food - It worked for me 6+m/c and one ectoptic and have 1 dd at long last. Also rest as much as possible don'ty ttake head ache tablets in particular ibruprphen (sp is wrong) avoid tea coffee alcohol drugs basically be supper healthy adn avoid anything there has ever been a slight doubt about - good luck and big hugs it is possible but I can't say 100% what will make it right for you

Hey all...things are good so far. No spotting at all which is a first for me. I've had the sharp twinges in my cervix from time to time but considering that this is my 5th pregnancy i guess that is to be expected! I am going to see my doc this wed so hopefully he will set my up with a scan for 8 weeks. I am hopeful but trying so hard not to be too excited. I think the only thing that is getting me through this right now is knowing that this is out of my hands and whatever Gods will is I have to accept it.

Honeybeez, just have faith and know that whatever will be will be. Stay positive and have faith in God. That is the only thing that is keeping me somewhat sane. Its tough, I know all about it! Good luck to you and we will keep our fingers crossed for you!!

A friend of mine had 4 miscarriages and then healthy boy/girl twins. Then five years later she got pregnant completely by accident and had a girl (she had to buy all the baby stuff again!). Another friend had 3 miscarriages and an ectopic pregnancy and an ovary removed but eventually her 2nd ivf worked (she had had problems conceiving too).
