MIL died an hour ago.

dh sped up to be with her but missed her by half and hour

The cars were both in the garage and I persuaded him to go via the garage and pick up the car rather than use the courtesy car - this added 45 mins onto his journey

I only suggested it because I thought if she took along time dying it would be easier for him as he wouldn't have to worry about getting the courtesy car back.

gutted for him.

his dad died when he was a child - now he is alone.

The first available flight after the call. One of his brothers and his sister is there, the other one is still here and will have to do the same. They have to get there pretty quickly apparently as in Spain the cremation takes place within 48 hours we've been told, goodness only knows if this applies to weekends. I do wish they had moved back when they had the chance.

we do tend to wait along time for our funerals

I think DH is relieved in a way that it will all be over with very quickly so can see the positive side to a fast one. I do feel bad I won't be there for him but it's just not possible for me to go with everything else at the moment.

Sorry, it's all very depressing this isn't it We've had time to get used to what's happening, it must be very hard for all of you that it's been so sudden. I am glad it's only one more night until your DH is back as I'm sure it will really help when he sees you all again. Being around the children is really helping my DH. I'm going to make him get some sleep now as he's looking exhausted.

You and your DH will be in my thoughts tomorrow. Hope you're as OK as you can be and get a decent sleep tonight.
