MIL died an hour ago.

dh sped up to be with her but missed her by half and hour

The cars were both in the garage and I persuaded him to go via the garage and pick up the car rather than use the courtesy car - this added 45 mins onto his journey

I only suggested it because I thought if she took along time dying it would be easier for him as he wouldn't have to worry about getting the courtesy car back.

gutted for him.

his dad died when he was a child - now he is alone.

chocolateteapot · 11/07/2007 16:01

I have spent many pleasant hours pottering round Wells.

Apparently they have just changed the policy for Sexey's after over 40 pupils got turned down initially this year. They've made extra classes and everyone in one of the feeder schools will be getting a space as of 2008, which means fingers crossed that DD is in and I only have DS to worry about.

Sorry, have gone off on a tangent with this. I am so sorry about your MIL

BeetrootHeidi · 11/07/2007 16:05

I wonder if your dd wil be in the same school as my neice? Begins with L I think.

Thanks chaps - at least he is with his sister and brother

I'm glad your DH is with his brother and sister now. Hope you've got someone who can come round and share a bottle of something with tonight.

Does your nieces school end with an M? If so, she's not going there as there wasn't space, she's going a bit further over, close to Wedmore, starts with M. L is an option for DS for 2008 depending on what space they will have available and the middle school situation. We might have to rent for a bit in the Autumn to get sorted.

BeetrootHeidi · 11/07/2007 16:49

you will haved to tell me when you comeover next. are you from this part of the world then?

Will let you know. I grew up in Bristol, though I haven't lived there for about 10 years now as have been in London, Somerset & Dorset. This is our last move now, I have had enough and want to settle the children down for good back amongst friends & family.

Nightynight · 11/07/2007 21:03

really sorry to hear this. Dont blame yourself about the car - it was a calculated gamble - it didnt come off, but it was just rotten bad luck that she should have died in that 45 minute timeslot.

IdrisTheDragon · 11/07/2007 21:33

Sorry Beety .

Carmione · 11/07/2007 21:35

Very sorry for your and dh's loss Beety

chocolateteapot · 11/07/2007 21:54

The shortlist so far is Mark, Wedmore, Badgworth, Weare & Blackford (basically Sexey's catchment). But if it is definitely true that once they are in one of the first schools they will get a place for Middle school then we will have a bit more choice which would be good.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 11/07/2007 22:03

Sorry Beety

Please dont feel bad about your suggestion re the car.

xxx

Butterbeertroot · 11/07/2007 22:05

Blackford is really nice

teafortwoandtwofortea · 11/07/2007 22:10

So sorry Beetroot

My Dad called my Grandpa the night before he was found having had a heart attack and there was no answer. There has been so much 'wishing' but it doesn't help or change things - hope your DH manages to get throught this time with your help, he will understand - he made the choice too.

MadEyemarthamooDy · 11/07/2007 22:10

Found your thread now, beety. You mustn't feel bad about the car - hindsight is a marvellous thing and you made the right decision with the knowledge you had at the time. Poor dh - I think that feeling of being an orphan must be horribly frightening, no matter how old you are.
