My mum committed suicide today

It was her second attempt but thought the last one was a cry for help. She was so popular and loved, I know she was struggling but can't get my head around this.

Of all deaths suicide can be the most painful and hardest types of death to deal with.

I'm very very sorry you are know one of the people who now know that.

My uncle committed suicide. It's hard to know he was in too much pain to live and that means that we didn't know how bad things were or that we couldn't help him.
He had tried 5 years before so I knew he was ill but had no idea things were so bad again and il live with that forever.

Not everyone will agree with this thinking but I find my way to cope is to not be angry with him but tell myself that his choice was his to make and I must respect that because I will never comprehend what being in his head must have been like.

I think I can as have attempted it my self and have sever mental health issues my self but each persons story is their own so I'd never say I get it.

Flyingpompom · 01/05/2018 00:50

So sorry for your loss.
Suicide is a very traumatic event, be gentle with yourself because it's hard to deal with.
I would recommend counselling.

Am so sorry Twatty - both my brother and sister committed suicide - they where both mentally ill - it's tragic - your mum would have been suffering. The way I deal with it is it means they are at peace now.
🌺 To you and all your family.

I am so sorry. My mum committed suicide 13 years ago...I was 17. Fell free to PM me if you need to talk.

40isnew50 · 01/05/2018 01:44

There are no words. I lost my brother to suicide almost 26 years ago. Bereavement by suicide is unique. And it bloody hurts. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk. Take care x

So sorry I didn't come back to the thread last night. I actually managed some sleep - it was an incredibly long day. Daunted by the thought of having to face everything today although we won't really be able to plan until next week I believe. I just don't want to have to deal with the inevitable questions.
Thanks to everyone who has had to deal with this before

My heart goes out to you, Twatty. What a dreadful shock! And a devastating loss. Your poor mum... and so, so heartbreaking for you and your family. There are no words to make it better except that we are all thinking of you and sending our love and support. x

I’m so sorry. This must be such a difficult thing to deal with. Having taken heavy duty painkillers and weaned myself off them because they made me ill, I understand the emotions you go through with them. I hope she’s found peace. Flowers

So sad for you. It's a horrible think to be left with questions without possibility of answers. 💐
