My mum committed suicide today

It was her second attempt but thought the last one was a cry for help. She was so popular and loved, I know she was struggling but can't get my head around this.

That must be awful for you and your family - do you have RL support?

LadyB49 · 01/05/2018 00:06

How sad for you. Do you have someone with you. x

twattymctwatterson · 01/05/2018 00:13

Thank you all. I'm staying overnight at my brothers tonight but will go home tomorrow. My mum has been ill since January, she was prescribed something for a back injury last year and she became addicted to it - she weaned herself off it but was left with terrible anxiety. She never had any mental illness prior to that and couldn't cope with the thought of carrying on feeling the way she was feeling. I've always had a complicated relationship with my Mum but I loved her. I feel numb at the moment but really don't know how I'll cope when that wears off

My brother committed suicide a few years ago. Not only did it cause me real heartbreak but also incredible guilt as I truly didn't know just how low he was and of course I was unable to do anything to support him before he took that drastic action. I still miss him but in some small way I am glad he isn't suffering mental torture anymore. Like any bereavement, take time to grieve, find people to talk to when your emotions take over and try to focus on the good times when you feel a little stronger. Big hug.

AdoraBell · 01/05/2018 00:26
