My Beautiful girl

Hi everyone,I haven't been around for a bit but I just want to share this & hopefully prevent other family's suffering as we are.

On the morning of 1st September this year,I found my beautiful 22 year old daughter who was home from uni,on the floor in her bedroom.
She was already beyond help.
It's been horrendous,no answers or support from anywhere for many weeks.
We were only able to finally lay her to rest on Friday
2 weeks ago we found out she died from Sudden Arrythmogenic Death Syndrome.

Every week 12 Children or young Adults die from SADS.
That's 120 more sudden, preventable deaths of young people since my beautiful daughter Ashlee left us.

CRY (cardiac risk in the young ) hold screening clinics for all 14-35 year olds.
The NHS WONT test our children unless one has already died from the condition.

Too little, too late for us,but maybe not other family's.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your daughter.

I have had all three of mine screened via CRY, a history of heart problems on dh’s side.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 12/11/2017 16:16

I'm so very sorry for your appalling loss and send you all my love and strength.
I've known 2 young people pass like this and I'm very grateful you've made me aware of the screening checks so thank you, I'll read more about this.

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 12/11/2017 16:24

So so sorry for your loss. I know there are no words to assuage your pain.

My gorgeous cousin died suddenly like this aged 34, leaving three children behind, almost two years ago now. The suddenness of it still has us reeling.

Sending you love and strength Flowers I will think of your lovely daughter Ashlee.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I can't even begin to imagine your shock and disbelief. Life can be so very cruel.
My youngest DD has mitral valve prolapse that was discovered during a GP appointment for a chest infection, and being called in from the waiting room where he told us both what he'd found was an awful moment. She was terrified of what it would mean for her, but we had an urgent cardiology referral and within a few months found out that hers is minor and shouldn't cause her many problems at this stage. At some point it will probably need replacing but they assured us that it is a very simple operation. I thank our lucky stars that she got the GP that she did that morning for an emergency appointment. It's always there at the back of my mind. But we are blessed to have that knowledge.

May your beautiful girl rest in peace Flowers.

Watcher I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful Ashlee.

I hope in time you can recall the happy memories. My sister passed away five months ago and it seems to be getting harder instead of easier - but every day I talk about her, she deserves to be talked about and remembered.

You're doing a wonderful thing by raising awareness, Ashlee would be proud of you xxFlowers

Sallystyle · 12/11/2017 16:51

I am so very sorry for your loss of Ashlee. I lost my daughter to cancer 5 years ago when she was 9. Thank you for sharing her story. My BIL experienced unexplained cardiac arrest just 2 days ago and is still on vent. His daughters will be tested tomorrow for a range of conditions that can cause this type of arrest. Sending you much love.
