TERRIBLE NEWS FROM YORKIEGIRL

tillykins · 10/08/2006 03:25

Yorkiegirl has phoned me from holiday in Portugal; her husband Nigel has collapsed and died tonight.
She thinks it was a stroke or heart attack.
The authorities are trying to get hold of her parents - they are also in Portugal
Fortunately, neither of her DDs saw anything
I don't know much more than that but will post if I have anything else

So glad you got some rest.

So nice to hear the hotel is doing so much to help you and your darling daughters at this sad time.

popsycal · 11/08/2006 10:15

YG

I have thought about you constantly since yesterday. Every time that ds2 woke last night I thought about you and your girls.

You have my mobile number - text if you want to.

Yorkiegirl, I don't think we've ever really chatted on here but I wanted you to know that you have been in my thoughts constantly since yesterday. You sound like an amazingly strong, caring person. I hope you find within yourself everything you will need to get through the next few days, weeks and months.

gigwig · 11/08/2006 11:03

FeelingOld · 11/08/2006 11:15

No words we say can make things better right now but I hope you can draw comfort later on from knowing how many people you have touched and are thinking of you at this most terrible time.
Sending love to you and your family x

catsmother · 11/08/2006 11:26

Yorkiegirl, I am so sorry to read about Nigel. He will be amazingly proud of you for keeping it together like you have for the sake of your daughters.

Words can seem so inadequate at times like these .....please don't hesitate to post on here in the future if you need any sort of help. There are 100s of people here who would be only too willing to try and make things a bit easier for you if they can.

You and your girls are in my thoughts.

Caribbeanqueen · 11/08/2006 11:36

I'm so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you and your dd's.

Piffle · 11/08/2006 12:14

Anna I think you're doing an incredible job of holding together, you're obviously an amazing lass - which I already knew after meeting you anyway
My father died very suddenly 15 years ago, (9/8/91) and I totally understand how everything marches solemnly on, especially with all the arrangements, banks and lawyers and stuff.
I always wished time could stand still so I could breathe out and understand everything but it never did.
I hope you are able to have time to breathe out, take stock and nurture your heart carefully at this difficult time.
Words just seem so damn inadequate.
Best of luck for your return to the UK. Bless you children for still being able to create smiles...
Love xxxxxxx
Jane

Bumblelion · 11/08/2006 13:47

Yorkiegirl, don't think I have ever had a conversation with you before but my sincere condolences to you and your family. What brought tears to my eyes was your message about hearing your daughter's laughter from the other side of the pool. Also what you said about Nigel falling out of bed, the same thing happened with my dear dad, absolutely shocking.

My thoughts are with you and your family.
