My newborn girl is going to die, not sure what to do now.

I gave birth to our little girl yesterday at 1.15pm. They told almost straight away they thought she had Edward's Syndrome. Now they think her brain just didn't develop. Noone can tell us how long she will be with us, nobody knows.

My two dds are 6 and 4 and were so excited about their baby sister. They are coming to meet her later. How can I tell them she will die?

As she is breathing unaided and tube feeding, they are caring for her in SCBU, but I have said if they can't do anything, I want to bring her home to spend her last time. I wish we knew how long she had.

I think my heart is breaking.

How lovely that she is better than expected but what a worry that they got things so wrong.

Do you know when you can bring her home?

Omg was just reading through and thinking of the right thing to say and then got to your post - I actually jumped up! Great news.

Your photos are lovely and your three girls ar beautiful.

What you have been through is awful but in a strange way I think it will help you to cope with all of the difficult things that may come in the future. My ds1 was diagnosed with downs syndrome at birth on scbu and I was devastated. But nearly 8 years on the shock has gone and we have totally got over it and get on with life. If we started off by going through the few days you have had I would have been delighted he had downs and possibly come to terms with it sooner iykwim. What I'm trying to say is that sometimes when things look extremely bleak it is amazing how different you feel about other problems and are so happy for this alternative diagnosis.

Wonderful news, enjoy your scrummy girlies. X
