My newborn girl is going to die, not sure what to do now.

I gave birth to our little girl yesterday at 1.15pm. They told almost straight away they thought she had Edward's Syndrome. Now they think her brain just didn't develop. Noone can tell us how long she will be with us, nobody knows.

My two dds are 6 and 4 and were so excited about their baby sister. They are coming to meet her later. How can I tell them she will die?

As she is breathing unaided and tube feeding, they are caring for her in SCBU, but I have said if they can't do anything, I want to bring her home to spend her last time. I wish we knew how long she had.

I think my heart is breaking.

Beautiful pictures of your beautiful girls.
I posted on your name thread a few weeks ago. Beatrice is a wonderful name. One of the meanings it has is 'voyager'.
Well we are all on a journey and we don't know, any of where that will take us or how long we may be on the way. You daughter is blessed that on her voyage she has parents and sisters who love and cherish her so dearly.

cupoftea - you have three very beautiful daughters :) They are lovely, lovely photos.

It is horrible to have had the news on Friday and been left hanging. Did they say why they didn't have the results today? I hope you get some answers tomorrow.

If the power of MN could change this for you, we would you know.

x

Even if she's with you for a short time, Beatrice Primrose has touched the hearts of all of us on this thread. She won't be forgotten.

Whatevertheweather · 20/09/2011 07:32

Oh cupoftea your girls are all so so beautiful and the love your older two feel for Beatrice is so clear. They look so proud and happy to have her. I know this may seem strange and you may already have done it but if you can try and take some photos of yourself and dh with Beatrice where you are smiling. We managed a few (although the smiles don't reach our eyes) and I'm glad we did. Thinking of you and all your family xx

callow · 20/09/2011 07:32

Beatrice is a beautiful baby.

On Youtube there is a small film about a baby called Eliot with Edwards Syndrome called 99 balloons. It is sad but inspiring.

Thinking of you.
