Repeat X infinity or until you melt through sheer lack of will to live.

X 100000 times a day.

Some of these are so familiar!!

Another of DS1's faves is to repeat over and over again what we are doing.

Me: we are going to grandmas today after we have had breakfast and got dressed.
DS1: breakfast first
Me: yes
DS1: breakfast first, get dressed and then grandmas
Me: yes that is correct
DS1: breakfast first, get dressed and then grandmas
Me: yes
and it goes on and on and on all day in this vein!!

Very familiar.

Every morning i have this...

DS- Where daddy?
Me- In work love.
DS- Why?
Me- Because he has to go to work.
DS- Why?
Me- So we can pay our bills.
DS- Why?
Me- So we have somewhere to live and nice things.
DS- Oh.......Mammy?
Me- Yes?
DS- Daddy's in work.
Me- Yes love.

EVERY morning!

Lol the fountains Jim. Each evening ds pulls back the curtains, examines the rapidly gathering dusk and announces sagely, "too dark for bubbles" .

Today's endless question....

DD - Is it Christmas today?
Me - Not today.
DD - Are you sure?
Me - Yes, its on Thursday.
DD- Is that tomorrow?
Me - No.
DD - Will Father Christmas bring me some presents?
Me- Yes, if you are a good girl.
DD- How many will he bring?
Me - I don't know.
DD - Is it Christmas today?
Me - No.
DD- So Father Christmas won't come today?
Me - No.
DD- Are you sure?

and repeat since 9am this morning...

we have this on a regular basis

want to cuddle papa
you can't cuddle papa right now he's at work
don't want papa to go to work
but papa has to
yes papa go to work to earn money
yes that's right dear
papa go to office.....want to go to office
we'll go to the office tomorrow
BUT WANT TO CUDDLE PAPA (with massive wailing fit)

and so on

but today's classic was at the doctors surgery

ds1 starting the conversation

see dr peach
yes darling but dr peach is seeing another little boy
waiting for dr peach
yes, we're waiting for dr peach
waiting on sofa for dr peach
yes darling we're waiting on the sofa

dr peach comes out of his office and calls another boy's name

(ds1) hello dr peach!
(me) dr peach is seeing another little boy
(ds1)waiting for dr peach
(me) yes we're waiting for dr peach
(ds1) see dr peach
and so on until dr peach calls our name

ds1 jumps down off the sofa as quick as lightning HELLO DR PEACH BEEN WAITING TO SEE YOU shouted out by ds1

goodchristmasgirl · 22/12/2008 21:08

hiya flick!!! YAY! We are not alone in toddler-hood.

DD1 is driving me crackers at the moment!!!

Twinklemegan · 23/12/2008 00:02

Not quite on topic, but the latest quite funny (and oft-repeated) phrase from DS is "I don't fink so, mummy" - in response to being asked/required to do anything he doesn't want to do. It cracks me up!

thefortbuilder · 24/12/2008 10:40

twinklemegan - we get "it's a bit difficult" when trying to dress himself which of course he has a lot of trouble with but won't let anyone help!
