can i have a checklist of reasons babymonster is crying please?

because i can't figure it out and its starting to stress me out

he is fed
changed
not too hot
not too cold
no stomach pain (its not hard anyway)
not obvioulsy teething although i have put bonjela on just in case
he doesn't want his dummy
doesn't want to sat up
doesn't want to be lay down

what else??!!

How old?
Sometimes they just get themselves into a tizz they can't get out of - have you tried distraction - maybe carry him around the garden/up and down the street a few times, or switch the hoover on and off?
If he's really really not himself, I would give him some calpol to see if that works - then at least you've worked whether or not it is pain.

When Dd did this we found that taking her into a darkened =,quiet room calmed her down.

he is 14 weeks

i can't walk him up and down the garden because then ds1 and 2 would want to play out and its not safe and the shop underneath is having a meeting in the office right by the garden

Poor little fella.

If it helps, sometimes baby just cry and they and you don't know why.

How long has he been awake? Could this be tired crying?

I realise the other two make it more complicated but can you take all of them for a walk with baby in sling or buggy?

he doesn't like being naked.
he hadn't been awake long - about 5-10 mins. now been crying for 45 mins

am goin to run thru the whole list again. poor ds1 and 2 - i can't get their tea started while ds3 is like this

tired? one of my dts used to cry and cry if he was tired. I sometimes used to have to stand for a minute or two holding his dummy in for him while he nodded off.

recently vaccinated? That can put them in a foul mood! When did you feed him - it may have been recent but if he's putting some work in on growing he may need more?

Oooo big sympathy, there is nothing hatder than a crying grumpy baby. I think the weather could have something to do with it. Other than that it sounds like you've checked everything. Do you think he could be feeling unwell or coming down with something? Perhaps calpol? My ds started teething at this age but had no syptoms such as red or swollen gums. He was just drooly and even more grumpy than his usual grotty self!

Is he feeding ok? How long was his last nap? Could he be over tired? My ds still wakes up and howls after a nap as he is stil tired but won't nap for more than 30 mins.

Running out of things to suggest but keep us posted. Some babies just go through these phases and we never know what the hell is bothering them

thirsty?

My ds was same at about 5pm today (he is 17 weeks) and I didn't think it could be hunger as usually doesn't feed in evening until 6.30pm.
So offered him some cooled boiled water and it completely did the trick. He glugged down a couple of ounces and was much happier afterwards.

Think in this hot, sticky weather they do get more thirsty...

Just a thought.

Thank you for your posts. He eventually stopped crying at half 6

Not a clue what it was but he started again as DP came home at 7. He was hungry then though.

Will boil up some water to cool for him tomorrow in case that works.

he isn't recently jabbed - tomorrow is his next set.

I don't know how much more i can take He has been doing this off and on for a few days now, it gets really hard when ds1 is hyped up and 'power ranger-y' from school and ds2 is trying his best to be good but his understanding is soooo far behind

BD - I second the water idea. DD often gets grumpy cos she's really thirsty.

breastfed but won't take a bottle with ebm in. it may be different with water

you could try using a cup for water

I second the sling idea, even if its round the house and they initially appear to not want to be near you. somehow being held tight and upright (facing in) can help wind and calm them down at the same time. obv not brilliant if he is too hot though.

no water? oh this is confusing!

yes he is demand fed which is currently every 2 hours

The slings i have are no good for wandering around doing housework. I cant get to grips with the ring sling and the baby bjorn hurts my neck
