Our boy shortlist was:

Oscar
Alexander
Edward
George

I also really really like Florian and Fabian which are both fine in German but a bit flowery in English. Dh wouldn't countenance it.

RedLorryYellowLorry · 04/05/2007 19:27

I have Max George
if I had another ds I'd choose Noah, Theo or Finlay I think.

Washersaurus · 04/05/2007 19:28

Frogs - I also like Florian (I thought it was a French name) but DH banned it from our shortlist

EvilSmeillingBugger · 04/05/2007 19:28

DS1 - George Monty John
DS2 - Joseph Benjamin Samuel

Washersaurus · 04/05/2007 19:29

I must stop reading this thread; my shortlist of names is getting longer and longer and longer

ejt1764 · 04/05/2007 19:30

Rhydian David

Baby no 2 would have been Ioseff Steffan ....

Aloveheart · 04/05/2007 19:31

ds1 is Leo.

Idreamofdaleks · 04/05/2007 19:32

Dp's friend called his son Pharoah

podglet · 04/05/2007 19:45

DS is Ivan David - not sure how it would work in French though.

There are some lovely names on here

ABitSilly · 04/05/2007 19:45

I like Bram.

Troutpout · 04/05/2007 20:39

Noah
Joseph

kateyp : sorry for you little Hugo . Actually, that's my nephew's name, and he is a gorgeous little boy

thnaks again for all your nice ideas I really love Archie but it's too english for the french

Seth sounds too muh of Star Wars for me (the revenge of the sith ) but I realise it's quite popular ;)

So far DH is OK for Raphael and Emmanuel

about middle names, it's interesting to rea about yours. Tradition seems to be 2 in the UK. In France the tradition is more 2 more names, but I like to be different again and we have chosen Claude (my dad's name), then Jean (both our grand dad's, plus his godfather's name when will know who it is

rabbleraiser · 04/05/2007 21:26

Maman, haven't read the whole thread, but Raphael is just fantastic. I love it, I love it.

LynetteScavo · 04/05/2007 21:29

I've known 2 Raphael's and they were both little scamps!

LynetteScavo · 04/05/2007 21:33

rabbleraiser · 04/05/2007 21:34

Yes, the name does conjure a little scamp, I'll admit. But surely an angelic scamp??

MamanFlo · 04/05/2007 21:42

Will have to look for "scamp" in my dictionnary
but I suppose it's not very positive

I have had ? Alexander Wallace (deceased ? 33 wk sb)
And Ben (not Benjamin ? just Ben) Oliver ? both sound good in French I would think?.
Although neither of mine have French Surnames?.think opposite of left??then think cart before the horse?

Ivor · 04/05/2007 21:56

Congratulations MamanFlo
My DS is Tyler David
Also liked Tristan, but that means noisy one, which I thought might be chancing it!

We couldn't decide so we took a list of about 5 names with us, then when DH was having his first cuddle he picked a name from the list he thought most suited the little bundle.
