Twins if that makes a difference.

Just trying to work out how unusual this is!

Thanks in advance

Apparently I was clean and dry, day & night by the time I was 18mo.
A fact I make sure to include on my CVs.

My DS is 3.3 and still isn't ready. As far as I can tell he does understand the concept but he has no controll over anything and gets very upset if I even gently push it so I think it'll be quite a while yet.

Don't let the pre-school pressure you. When and how you potty train is entirely your choice. Yes, they might have some good ideas and their support will make a lot of different but if you don't agree with their suggestions then stand your ground. If a child isn't potty trained then the school have to put a personal care plan in place to ensure they are changed as and when needed. Don't let them fob you off.

Mine! DD, 3 and a half yesterday. Just doesn't want to!

This is the age I potty trained DS. He wasn't ready emotionally before. Was v. quick to train. DS's best friend also trained a few months later at around the same age (is a few months younger). Also knew a friend's DS who wasn't potty trained until 4 (no additional needs) and still wears nappies at night at age 7. We linked it possibly to emotional trauma (parents separating constantly, possible feeling of instability) but who knows really. All children mentioned very normal and lovely.

Gah. DD must've seen me posting as she's decided today that she no longer wants to wear nappies!!

Mine isn't Goofy!! I've just abandoned yet another attempt at potty training funnily enough, she was pooing in her knickers and showing fierce anger at the potty. I'm so reassured we're not alone!

DD was trained during the day last Christmas (so 2.9). We did force the issue a bit, but it took all of 48 hours really. We are in New Zealand so did it then as much easier in summer. But she still has accidents because she holds on and holds on then can't get to the toliet.

She isn't night trained, only dry one night in 7 on average.

My son was potty trained at 3.6 he simply refused point blank to sit on a potty or toilet he would scream and scream if you tried to encourage him and if you took off his nappy he would hold it in until he just wet himself.

We waited and then one afternoon when I was changing him he just said no more nappies and started using the potty and toilet. He was also dry at night from day 1. We have had 3 accidents when he was distracted and didn't quite make it.

If it makes any difference he also has a speech delay and a slight delay in understanding and I think waiting was the best approach with him!

DD has only just potty trained at 3.4 after 4 looooong months of stress. She was NOT ready in hindsight. She's brilliant now though, hurray!
Definitely not rushing into night time training.
