My mate's 3 yr had incredible vocabulary from a v young age. This last month she's become hardly understandable. My mate took her to the doctors yesterday and asked if it could be something pressing on her brain to which he said he couldn't be certain and is rushing her through to see a consultant. I'm terrified so I can't imagine how they're feeling. The GP mentioned adenoids but I can't see how this would totally change her speech? Has anyone else heard of this?

My mate came the other day and has decided against the scan as her DD is back to normal and the health professionals agreed with her. Maybe it was a virus? we'll probably never know but it's lovely to have her back

Hurray!

It's not worth just going ahead with the scan to be on the safe side, is it? I was just thinking if it happened again ... it did sound pretty severe from what you described.

Just a thought, don't mean to spoil the excellent news.

Have just noticed this thread. It sounds to me like your friend's dd had Hunt's syndrome (can be triggered by chicken pox). This website has lots of really useful info. about it (and every other disease there is).
