My mate's 3 yr had incredible vocabulary from a v young age. This last month she's become hardly understandable. My mate took her to the doctors yesterday and asked if it could be something pressing on her brain to which he said he couldn't be certain and is rushing her through to see a consultant. I'm terrified so I can't imagine how they're feeling. The GP mentioned adenoids but I can't see how this would totally change her speech? Has anyone else heard of this?

juniper, just caught up with this thread. I really, really hope all comes good for your friend's little daughter. What a great friend you are. Hugs to you all, you must be so worried. Can you keep us posted?

Evita · 17/03/2004 11:03

juniper, how is the little girl in herself at the moment? Has there been any change?

juniper68 · 17/03/2004 15:04

She's started wetting herself a few times and was very clingy to her mum (after mum found her crying on the stairs at 2am) She's been dry for ages now. She isn't complaining of anything in particular though.

Juniper, so sorry to read this, what an awful thing to go through. I dearly hope this turns out OK.

I just can't get this little girl out of my mind. I am glad she is not in pain - she would be able to say if she was, wouldn't she?

Please let us know, if you can, how the meeting goes on April 1st.

Evita · 17/03/2004 20:08

I feel the same, tigermoth, it's a terribly sad story. I hope so much it turns out ok. It's the sort of thing we all fear happening to anyone we know and love or anyone else for that matter.

juniper, that is so worrying, hoping that everything will turn out OK.

juniper68 · 17/03/2004 21:58

i went out for a meal with DH tonight and couldn't stop thinking about her. It was a waste of time going really. I'm supposed to be out with her mum for a meal next week to 'celebrate' her birthday and another mate's. My mate's just existing really though at the mo, in limbo. I'm dreading seeing her again, we talk on the phone but it's not the same bubbly mate and I just feel like crying. I spoke to her today and you could tell she was tearful even though she puts an act on. I'll keep you all posted and thanks again for caring so much.

It sounds like your friend is in absolute torment. Is there any way they can reschedule the appontment for the 25th of March? If her husband cannot miss his meeting, can she take her daughter to the appointment without him?

Me too, Twiglett

Evita · 18/03/2004 21:36

And me. If only that little girl knew how many people are hoping for her! Do you think she herself knows something's wrong?

I think she does Evita. People can't make out what she's saying but her understanding is still good from what I can make out.

Roll on 1 April for them all, Juniper.

Clarinet60 · 20/03/2004 12:40

Belated best wishes. I've kept thinking about her too. I hope they get news soon, April seems an amazingly long way off, under these circumstances.

motherinferior · 20/03/2004 15:49

I have just come to this thread; like everyone else, I'm really sorry.

WideWebWitch · 20/03/2004 21:10

I missed this before too. so sorry. How awful.

coppertop · 01/04/2004 08:25

Best of luck for the little girl today. xx

tigermoth · 01/04/2004 08:47

oh thanks for bringing this up again - I was just thinking about this little girl. Hope the news is good.

juniper68 · 01/04/2004 12:50

thanks again for your messages. I'll be ringing later to see how she got on. My mate came the other night with her two children and her DD was talking a lot better, I could understand her, which was great
One thing that I thought of was the fact that the little girl had chickenpox last year in Nov.? Don't know if anyones heard of after effects of that, I once read about a little girl having a stroke after that. My mate also mentioned that this could be a factor. Anyway, she won't get the results for a few days but as soon as we do i'll post them.
thanks again xxxxxx
