Has anyone claimed the "shite parent of the day" award yet?

Because I'd like to nominate myself.
dd2 (15mo) is at that very clingy, hanging off your leg stage. I was too soft to chuck her out of the kitchen while i made a hot drink. I spilt a bit of coffee on her, and she got scalded. luckily not badly enough to need medical attention, but still horrible for her. what an idiot.

I dropped my iPhone on 10am DD's head whilst browsing MN and bfeeding this morning :( She really cried too.

Join the queue. There are plenty of us getting the sticker for that one, don't bash yourself. My dd's first word was "soreee" because it was the word she heard most from me/DH/her brothers when we stood on her feet - Ahh the joys of clingy offspring

Well after I abandoned him with 3 separate caregivers today (nursery, picked up by childminder and then last hour between schoolrun and me picking him up he goes to a friend's house) he tried to close the door himself without leaving a space for me to squeeze through, attempting to negotiate this led to him falling and bashing his face on the door frame :(

Then when he was being all upset about it not being a nursery day tomorrow I told him he would be going to see his auntie instead, which made him run excitedly home flailing his arms, and of course fell over.

Then I asked him to bring this morning's breakfast plate through to clear the table for dinner and he tripped over the hoover.

Oh, and to top it off I told him I wouldn't read his story until he put his pyjama trousers on, so he read me 3 stories instead...

it was somehow all the worse for being in front of dd1's friend's mum, whom I'd not really met before. one minute i was making polite chit chat, the next minute stripping off a screaming toddler and dangling her under the sink tap.

i wonder if dd1's friend will ever be allowed to come and play again.....

Ps I dropped a fork on ds1s head when he was about 5mo - left four neat prong marks on his baldy head. he's now 11 and relatively normal

Although I did the scalding with tea thing at about 2 weeks old :( he was actually fine, I totally panicked and got my neighbour to drive us to A&E imagining I could see a red mark on his foot. When I got there they examined him, decided he was fine, and then looked pointedly at my hand and asked if I wanted medical attention for that I had a big scald on one hand and on my own stomach which I hadn't noticed because I had been so worried about him!

DD (13) has bent her little finger back this evening. It looks weird and is painful. I'm putting off going to Urgent care 'til tomorrow.
(Is it a mitigating factor in my defence that she did it whilst fighting with DS for the last Bakewell tart? Was v. cross with them both)

I'd crawl over broken glass for a Bakewell Tart right now, so it sounds like she got injured in the pursuit of a noble cause.

No, you are all amateurs - your DC had bone fide accidents. 'Tis me, I win. DD (17) has final school exams this summer. She has listened to me talking about the desirability of being industrious, paying one's way, being independent etc and has got herself a part time job.

Now I feel horribly guilty as this week and next she is undergoing training (big restaurant chain, food handling, correct service at table etc). She has to attend from 5 - 9.30 each evening Mon - Fri this week and next (that's after school) + all day Saturday. Once trained she has agreed to work 10 hours per week on top of studying for exams. She has an unconditional university place but it's not her first choice and she needs to get some good grades. She is also involved in school sports teams. She will be exhausted and I am sure the grades will suffer. Will never get this parenting stuff right now, she will leave home in September

I'm not applying on account of the injury. Accidents happen, of course, although I'm not sure a sibling punch-up technically qualifies as one. No, I'm harbouring slight twangs of guilt about not taking her to hospital - although clearly not sufficient to get me off my arse and into the car. Oh, and did I mention they were home alone at the time?

Is there a runner-up trophy?

My 6mo rolled off the bed onto his face yesterday. I knew he could roll so put him right in the middle of the bed and turned away for about 3 seconds, in which time he rolled and propelled himself of the bed. I think I cried more than he did!

I harangued ds for an hour and twenty minutes this morning before he went to school.

And then his teacher e-mailed me to let me know that he'd been brilliant this week and she was really impressed with how he's pulling himself together.

In the space of an hour yesterday morning dd1 7 months managed to fall off the sofa (onto carpet luckily) somehow and now has a nice egg head. Followed by DD1 2.5 who ran to the car with hands in pockets to go to nursery. Yes you guessed it she tripped up, fell straight onto her face, split lip and loads of blood everywhere. I sorted her out and she said she still wanted to go to nursery. I got there and when they said is everything ok I burst into tears! Dd2 was fine and munching breakfast. I thought I am a pants parent!!!!

I sterilised a teething ring yesterday after the dog ate it, got it out to give to DTD1, checked it wasn't too hot, wasn't so gave to DTD1, prompt screaming and a blister on her hand swiftly followed. Must have been some boiling water on it. Bad mother. The dog shouldn't have got hold of it in the first place!

He's fine thanks WMD - he cried for about 2 minutes, had a feed then was as happy as usual! I keep checking his pupils and stuff though (PFB emoticon!).

I didn't get up this morning when DD 14 and DS 13 were arguing about what time their swimming lesson was, I pretended I was asleep :)

And I didn't look for DS swim hat even tho he was late

I think I'm in the running for the award.....I just didn't have the energy :)
