Because I'd like to nominate myself.
dd2 (15mo) is at that very clingy, hanging off your leg stage. I was too soft to chuck her out of the kitchen while i made a hot drink. I spilt a bit of coffee on her, and she got scalded. luckily not badly enough to need medical attention, but still horrible for her. what an idiot.

Yesterday my 12 month old dd fell off the sofa and bumped her head then later on fell down the stairs Shock she is ok but has a face full of bruises. My Mum is coming today to judge me visit, god help dh when she realises he hasnt put up the stair gate she bought.

HouseworkProcrastinator · 04/02/2012 10:18

A few months ago I got my daughter out of the bath wrapped her in a towel and carried her in my arms into the bedroom I misjudged the size of the doorway and as I walked through her head slammed into the door frame.

I have also gone to pull up my child's trousers and the waistband has slipped out of my hand and have ended up hitting her in the face.

I seem to scram them quite a lot when dressing too even though my nails are not even that long.

I have also sent one into nursery with trousers on back to front and shoes on wrong feet on the same day!

Character building I say :)

Honeydragon · 04/02/2012 10:27

I do the doorway misjudging thing Blush

Nagoo · 04/02/2012 10:32

I have punched DS in the face pulling up his trousers.

Even worse, I'm laughing while I remember it [evil] Blush

gettingalifenow · 04/02/2012 10:38

I sympathise, WMD. Just because the DCs are teenagers doesnt mean we don't nominate ourselves for shite parent awards! It's just a different kind of bad parenting....I'm right up there with you in the league table of unreasonable demands on the DD's time all in the pursuit of so called good parenting

My 20 month old fell/jumped off the kitchen counter yest morning whilst I prepared her morning milk,

She has the fatest upper lip ever and had a nose bleed a few times yest. Sad

Do I win?

smearedinfood · 07/02/2012 23:04

I was exclaiming how wonderful it was to have DS in a sling when he was 5 weeks old. Next day I was walking down the street eating ice-cream from a cone. I licked the scoop and the scoop fell off and landed on his head. Double gutted!
It rolled off his head and landed on the pavement and an ever so helpful well meaning non English speaking person picked it up off the pavement to give it back to me.. After she handed it over she had a look of self doubt. I took it, thanked her...and then regretfully put it in the rubbish bin.

smearedinfood · 07/02/2012 23:05

It was a thorntons ice cream. The first scoop was yum. The second didn't happen Blush

RillaBlythe · 07/02/2012 23:10

When dd1 was little I had her on my hip while cooking... I had a wave of conscience & moved the pan to the back Jon thus having to lean over the stove to stir it... Thus pressing DD's leg against the hot metal bit of the stove. She still has a scar etched on my mother guilt

Spent boxing day in a&e with burns when she fell off the sofa into my mil's tea.

What did the visiting mum say Charlotte?!

blackoutthesun · 07/02/2012 23:12

ahem that award is mine Smile

when dd was 6 months she was still co-sleeping until the morning i woke up with her on the floor kicking the side of the bed, not sure how long she was down there. my first thought was 'what a great night sleep' Blush

MrsShrekTheThird · 07/02/2012 23:51

OP, did you realise you had so much competition.Grin

HipHopOpotomus · 08/02/2012 10:54

I didn't take DD 4yo to play in the snow on Sunday.

It was my lie in day (first one in months), DP hates snow & will avoid at all costs, and the day just ran away with me so we didn't go out & play. It didn't strike me until bed time what I had done (or neglected to do). I'm usually pretty easy going but I cried about it on Monday and felt so shitty & depressed - major parental failure!!!! (DD doesn't hold it against me bless her)

whatsthatnoise · 08/02/2012 11:14

I'm pretty sure I win I also misjudge doorways alot but last week I put my tantrumming toddler into her buggy and forgot to strap her in. Half way home she stood up cue lots of screaming me lots of blood her and a trip to A&E. She now has butterfly stitches covering a hole in her head and 2 black eyes. :(

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 08/02/2012 11:17

When I was little my parents had the 3 day rule. Unless there was a lot of blood or you could see a bone actually sticking out all injuries required a 3 day wait to see if they really were serious enough to go to hospital. It was a policy I adopted as I detest waiting in a and e it works most of the time but I did get a few Hmm when DS1 was 13months and I took him in and explained that he'd fallen off the bed 3 days earlier and wasn't walking on it and they told me he'd fractured his leg Blush

Currently DS2 has a bump on his head I hit the door off his head when I opened the bedroom door eventually to see what he shouting was about. (In my defence he's 8 months old and was in a sleeping bag so I didn't exactly expect to climb out of his cot and be behind the bedroom door)

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 08/02/2012 14:28

aw, all these poor dc.
Rilla I was expecting the other mother to sympathise and share tales of how she had nearly killed her own children, but she looked aghast and said "God, that looks awful....".
Oh well, I never liked playdates anyway......

At about 4 months old, I plonked ds2 down on a chair so I could get my coat on and stuff.

He obviously fell off landing on his face and had a bloody nose and carpet burn on his face.

I don't know why I put him there, I knew he would fall off but I did it anyway. I think, for a momentary second, I thought he was his 21month old brother.

I realised pretty much straight away and spun round to take him off the chair, but it was too late. He was face down on the ground screaming his little heart out. Blush

megglewell · 08/02/2012 16:58

Today? I shut the door to shut out wining/stroppy 3 year old for a minute while I sorted washing then couldn't open it again. Was stuck in bathroom for an hour while dd and ds (10 months) cried and screamed. Had to shout 'help' out of the window until someone next door managed to get hold of my boyfriend (via my mum) to come home from work and rescue us all. Can I have the medal?!

tabulahrasa · 08/02/2012 17:08

I fell down the stairs holding DS when he was about 4 months old, whacked his head off a wall taking him out of his buggy at about 5 months old, trapped his finger in a door when he was about 1 (he temporarily lost a nail and everything), I lost him in woolworths when he was 3...he's 15 and like here and alive and everything, lol.

tabulahrasa · 08/02/2012 17:09

None of that was today obviously, lol, I was just telling you the tales of how I tried to kill my DS - I would say children, but oddly I wasn't as clumsy with DD Hmm

pleasethanks · 08/02/2012 20:38

Aged 1, DD fell, face first, out of her high chair and hit her face on a coffee table on the way down to the floor. Black eyes, bleeding nose, vomiting, screaming. My stomach still churns when I think about it.

OAM2009 · 08/02/2012 21:50

Can I apply respectively on behalf of me and my husband? Him first - he shut DS1's finger in the washing machine!!! Whereas I have let both boys fall off our bed and have dropped DS1 down the stairs TWICE!!! And all in under 3 years! There is worse but I'm too embarrassed to tell you more! x

NFTA · 08/02/2012 22:19

meglelwell medal on its way!!! Grin

NFTA · 08/02/2012 22:21

when dd was about 8 mths old , i put her on my shoulders and walked through a doorway. ouch Blush I honestly didn,t consider the height until I heard the 'clunk' of her head
