Every single chuffing one.

He seemed to take great pleasure in not liking a single name I suggested for nine months and then occasionally making passive-aggressive suggestions of his own such as Gillian or Deborah or Susan just to wind me up.

Then he waited until I was in in a sleep-deprived morphine haze to name our new baby. I was so amazed that he'd actually got a bloody opinion on the matter that I agreed straight away.

Hugo and Miles

I love them - dh wouldn't entertain them

MunchkinsMumof2 · 13/05/2010 21:19

Stella and Ned

TallestTower · 13/05/2010 21:20

Notanumber - my dh did exactly the same. I came up with around 100 suggestions which he hated. He came up with one. And guess what dd's called?

I was stronger the second time round. Wouldn't tell anyone, including dh, the name I liked and then told him mid-contraction what name I had chosen. He was too scared to disagree.

Lonnie · 13/05/2010 21:21

ohh forty plus I love Hugo and Miles both lovely names

(we discussed Niles for all our girls had 3 girls and with ds it wasnt discussed lol)

Sebastian

Isobel (got it as a middle name though)

LostArtOfKeepingASecret · 13/05/2010 21:26

Most of my choices, when I think about it. Notably, Hal, Gabriel, Bodie (now that was pregnancy hormones!) and Florence.

fortyplus · 13/05/2010 21:26

Ah well I have 2 boys so my 'long list' of girls' names never came up for discussion! I rather liked Charlotte, Eleanor and Sarah but haven't a clue whether dh would have gone for those!

themothershipcalling · 13/05/2010 21:26

My DH wouldn't entertain Gabriel or Christian which I really wanted.... To be honest we couldn't really agree on boys names so good job it was a girl!

honeydragon · 13/05/2010 21:27

ds - hated name partner chose - he dismissed all my suggestions, absolutely hated it and then the little sod was born, I couldn't imagine calling him anything else and now love it.

So with dd had couple of vague ideas but left naming her totally to my husband to the horror of family and friends I said I'd go with whatever he suggested, which he finally announced a week before she was born, and all is fine.

CaptainNancy · 13/05/2010 23:14

Kester
Hector
Milo
Arlo

Jamieandhismagictorch · 13/05/2010 23:53

Gabriel (would get teased)

Daniel (too boring)

Jamieandhismagictorch · 13/05/2010 23:53

Asa

diddl · 14/05/2010 07:44

I wanted Hebe but he didn´t.

specialsmasher · 14/05/2010 08:22

Ada & Imogen

mrsruffallo · 14/05/2010 08:24

Martha and Wolf

Sibble · 14/05/2010 08:35

James - poncy I'd call him Jim or Jimbo
Poppy - ** hippy!

marriednotdead · 14/05/2010 08:39

Bianca with DD, Tico with DS. Which was better imo than the Boris HE wanted!

jessia · 14/05/2010 08:39

Sibble - my DH vetoed Poppy too because he said it sounds too much like "puppy" (he is not a native English speaker). But the dog was pregnant too so I got to call a puppy Poppy!
And Samuel. But we have had 2 DDs so that was irrelevant.

Rockbird · 14/05/2010 08:59

Verity. DH hates the Felicity/Verity sort of names and I love Verity.

He is currently complaining about Dominic for dc2 which I also love.

withorwithoutyou · 14/05/2010 09:01

Eloise.

Still pregnant with an unnamed girl.

Still pissed off about not being allowed it.

Rockbird · 14/05/2010 09:06

Ha! My SIL wanted Eloise and despite 2 dds my brother has always vetoed it

MamaLazarou · 14/05/2010 09:10

He vetoed lots of names while I was pregnant, but, after seeing what I went through giving birth, he changed his mind and said I could have whichever name I wanted!

Names he liked that I vetoed: Bruce, Kenneth, Iris, Ivy, Marianne.

OrganicHairbrush · 14/05/2010 09:18

Almost everything I liked was hard to pronounce and/or had additional connotations in DH's first language.

And I really wanted Grace but DH said it was too common. So now whenever we meet a Grace I get an "I told you so" look. Unfortunately, too, his exW's name is one of my life-lone favourites, too

Bicnod · 14/05/2010 09:22

I liked Daniel, Harry and Benjamin and DH vetoed all three. Hardly controversial names so not sure what his beef was with them
