Do you? And if not what would you like to be called?

MamaLazarou · 11/05/2010 16:38

Yes. I like it very much. It is classy and glamorous (unlike me )

AbsOfCroissant · 11/05/2010 16:39

Yes, I love it. In fact, at one stage all the names I like were similar to mine. The only problems are that it can't shortened and old German men always get it wrong (but that's not toooo much of a problem).

NoahAndTheWhale · 11/05/2010 16:41

I like my name. It does have a lot of official ways to spell it and also some unofficial ways but my way is best .

swanandduck · 11/05/2010 16:42

I have an Irish name which I like when pronounced the Irish way. But a certain character on telly has the same name and it is pronounced in a really harsh way that I hate.

TigerFeet · 11/05/2010 16:43

No it isn't Noah

MY way is far superior

I like my name, I go by a shortened version but I prefer the long version.

mrspear · 11/05/2010 16:45

I don't mind my name but so many girls were called the same when i was at school. Also i am constantly telling people how to spell it.

BunnyLebowski · 11/05/2010 16:45

Oooh what's yours swan? I'm wondering if it's the same as mine!

I love my name! It's Irish too and flumoxes most english people when I meet them but I kinda like that too. Better than being another boring Claire or Catherine .

thumbwitch · 11/05/2010 16:45

Not overkeen tbh. But given the apparent alternatives my mum was considering, I got off lightly.

When I was young I wanted to be called something long and interesting - but my taste was a bit off - Geraldine was a favourite for a while, then Stella (I was aiming for a name that meant star) or Selena (moon).

In the end, I don't really mind it now.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 11/05/2010 16:46

Not really. It's very unusual. I always have to explain where it comes from and how it is spelt.

I sometimes yearn for a more familiar name - but I wouldn't want one that is very common

Violet5 · 11/05/2010 16:49

No, it's Jo or Joanne, depending on if i'm being naughty or not !
I'd have liked to have been called Violet, but aparently my Mum wanted to call me Sabrina so maybe i'm lucky i got Joanne in that case.

vintage · 11/05/2010 16:54

i love my name. There was a thread about it a few weeks back and it seemed to get the thumbs up not an easy task on here. When i was a teenager i used to pretend it was Roxanne

Angela82 · 11/05/2010 16:55

I don't mind my name but think it's very boring though - it's Angela and I hated it at school. It's a very, very normal, boring name to me!

I think when I was at school I used to think names like Kelly and Carly were cool - really don't think that now though !

I guess I'm glad I have a classic kind of name but I wouldn't call a baby it

Apparantly my name is quite popular in America though (for babies) I read yesterday ! Who'd have thought it !

I'm a Sophie and I like it.

Hulababy · 11/05/2010 17:04

I don't really mind mine. It was very popular in the 70s and in now way offensive. It's nothing exciting, but it is my name and I have nothing against it.

It is not a name I would chose to name my own child.

Tidey · 11/05/2010 17:05

It's alright, but I was one of three of the same name in primary school and seven in secondary.

AdasMum · 11/05/2010 17:10

I like my name and especially like(d) it that no one in my school or circle of friends was called the same.

bluebump · 11/05/2010 17:14

Yes I like mine, there were a few of us at high school with the same name and I still hear a few babies being called it nowadays too but it's not too popular.

diddl · 11/05/2010 17:37

As an adult I finally like it.
I would choose Hebe for myself-I love it!

minipie · 11/05/2010 17:42

I like mine, always have. Even though it became over popular a few years back and is now arguably a bit of a chav name...

Purplebuns · 11/05/2010 17:42

I hate my name! Always have, I hoped I would grow to like it.. I haven't.

I wouldn't know what to change it to though!

MarineIguana · 11/05/2010 17:44

It's OK, kind of dull. It wasn't common when I was little but now there are lots - but it's a very safe option. I'd love to have a completely out-there name like Thora or Queenie or Edwidge - really I would, it would work for me.

We've given our DC very unusual names with more normal middle names, so they have options. DD's is very cool (IMO) and I'm quite jealous.

mayanna123 · 11/05/2010 17:44

I really like my name. It has always been fairly unique and I loved being the only one in school with it . As it was never particularly popular it doesn't seem to feel dated either or linked to a particular era.

RabbitAndCo · 11/05/2010 17:45

I'm a Sophie too 4andnotout.

And I really like it.

MrsJohnDeere · 11/05/2010 17:47

Yes, love it. Always have.

Have always hated my middle name though.
