I was just wondering (because I'm bored and there's nowt on telly) if anyone here had given their LOs literary-inspired names? My LO-on-the-way is going to have the name of my favourite book-character as a middle name if it's a boy... I was watching Jonathon Ross last night and found out Russell Crowe's DS2 is called Tennyson... can anyone beat that?

do you mean named after famous authors, or famous characters?

If the latter, Dickens is a particularly rich source of names.

I really really wanted to call DS Atticus, but was not allowed . Am now considering Linton for DS2 (as in Wuthering Heights). Am also considering Linus from Peanuts, though not sure if that counts as literature .

I wanted to call one of my dses Jude but it was vetoed.

And I should have given DS2 William as one of his middle names as he was born on the Bard's birthday, but...I didn't.

Still kinda regret that.

I named my daughter after a character in a series of books I loved when I was younger. I was 15 and read the Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants books and I still read them so regularly they're falling apart!
I loved all the 4 main characters and their names but decided Tibby (Tabitha) was too twee, Lena and Carmen too exotic so plumped for Bridget.
I know thats also a name for a certain neurotic 30-something who wrote a diary, but thats NOT who she was named for!

I love having a baby named after a character I loved. Not because I want her to emulate the character, just because its a name I loved for many years.

I really wanted Hero (off of Shakespeare) but DH vetoed immidiately.

I love Atticus and Bronte! DP would never let me, though. If this LO is a boy I am having Holden for a middle name - I've had it saved up since 1994 and I LOVE it so criticise it at your peril - from The Catcher in the Rye. I wanted it for a first name but naturally DP said no... I know a mum who has a DD called Esme after To Esme, With Love and Squalor, also by JD Salinger.

blake after william blake for ds1 did consider continuing the theme for ds2 with dante but dh vetoed it thankfully

Dd is a famous author Ms Behn see here.

Ds is sort of named after the main character in Guys and Dolls. But is also cos I am a big hippy.
