Awful biblical names

Anyone else out there who thinks some biblical names are just awful? My cousin just named her DS Enoch -- bleugh! Some other ones I'd never use:

Hepzibah -- sounds like hippopotamus or heffalump.
Jezebel -- obvious reason!
Jael -- can't get the story of her hammering a tent peg through some chap's head out of my own head.

Ha ha just kidding. Just thought it was a coincidence that you don't like the 2 names me and my sister have chosen!

fatwildwoman My Simeon has been bought a fair few monkeys as birth presents And Simian is what came to mind for my Mum when we told her. But hey ho - she wasn't exactly a fan of "Gideon" being her first grandchild!

Happymumof3 Hurray for there being more Gideons in the world! Do you know more? To my shame I've only just realised that George Osborne is really called Gideon!

Have only just found out my self about George Osborne.Hooray for Gideons!!!

Had never met another Gideon until recently when we were in an adventure playground and heard another Mum shouting for a Gideon.Totally confused my Giddy playing with another one.

HappyMumof3 Awww mine's a "Giddy" too. We met a Gideon at the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch railway last year. My Gideon was actually a bit weirded out by it because he'd NEVER met another Gideon before and I think was a bit confused by how someone could have his name! (Despite having read this the Gideon story from the Bible many time!)

him not this

Ah-ha, both DSs' names are listed, as I thought. Will try not to be offended! I love biblical names, possibly not the really far out ones but the slightly obscure ones.

Love Jezebel, my DP chose it quite unaware as he thought of a mix of Jasmine and Isabel!
We haven't used it but would like to.
I think Hepzibah is quite sweet.
