Never heard it before.

It actually sounds kind of made up to me, I'm afraid, and that generally makes me not keen on a name.

mathanxiety · 15/04/2010 15:11

Not nice at all.

It looks like a mishmash of Kyle and Dylan, and there are no clues about how to pronounce it in the spelling. It looks made-up, tbh.

Kyle, Killian, or Dylan are all preferable, imo.

Collision · 15/04/2010 15:13

You will not like my opinion as I do not like the letter 'K'!!

Am really not keen on Kylan and think it is madeup and a bit naff!

wukter · 15/04/2010 15:15

Definitely not with first son Kelvin

AbsOfCroissant · 15/04/2010 15:18

No. Just no.

Actually, two nos. One for Kylan and one for having your DC's names beginning with the same letter

thelittlebluepills · 15/04/2010 15:21

would it be pronounce "kill-ann"?

definitely no then - would be awkward if he ever met someone called Ann

Lionstar · 15/04/2010 15:23

I really like Kelvin

catinthekitchen · 15/04/2010 15:30

god no

MadameCastafiore · 15/04/2010 15:31

Vile.

But then I think Kelvin is pretty awful too.

BunnyLebowski · 15/04/2010 15:33

It's horrible and it's not a name.

Lionstar · 15/04/2010 15:35

MC that's a bit harsh to criticise a name she has already given her son

Suzie42 · 15/04/2010 15:38

If you want a chose a name check out www.nameframesuk.co.uk/index.php it`s realy interesting.

wukter · 15/04/2010 15:38

How about Killian? (kill-ee-an)

GladioliBuckets · 15/04/2010 15:40

Don't like Kylan, sounds naff. My DS is Kurt so I'm not anti all K names.

Suzie42 · 15/04/2010 15:40

Sorry that should read www.nameframesuk.co.uk I`m not so good on the old web!

Granny23 · 15/04/2010 15:45

Well as Kelvin is the small river at Glasgow, what about Clyde which is the other one? 'K' sound but actually a 'C' initial.Personally, I like Kelvin very much but would advise against 2 sons with same initial will cause confusion with 2 Mr K Happy in the house.

GladioliBuckets · 15/04/2010 15:49

Or how about Christopher/Christian with Kit for short?

EndangeredSpecies · 15/04/2010 15:50

It's not made up, it's a Gaelic name. If you're Scottish and you both like it then why on earth not?!

pedrothellama · 15/04/2010 15:57

I actually know a chap called Kalyn - he hates it and wishes he was called John or Bill- his parents picked it whether he turned out to be a boy or a girl. Enough said.

joster · 15/04/2010 15:59

Kai? Still not great, but better than Kylan!

Why do names have to start with the same initial. I know someone and all four children (of the same sex too!) all have the same initial.. Ugh. The only plus point I can see is that you simply need lots of clothes/name labels with the same initial plus surname in them... otherwise?? Confusion all the way, surely?

happymum2010 · 15/04/2010 16:15

hi thanks all for being honest
we are not Scottish but French in France killian is a very popular name since 2007 and we have thinking about it for our son kelvin 3 yrs ago but as it is now to popular we don't really like it anymore

i haven't made up the name i ve heard it for the first time by a friend who name her son like this and also on the internet search
i've also find it as a gaelic name

the prononciation isn't the same as killian it is more like ky-len

thansk for the 2 website i'm gona take a look at them

and about christopher and christian they are really to commun for us i like unusual name and also don't really like the calendar name

thanks

The boy's name Kylan \k(y)-lan\ is a variant of Kyle (Gaelic), and the meaning of Kylan is "narrow, straight".
Found that

happymum2010 · 15/04/2010 16:26

we don't like kai it is to short
i don't think it is really confused to have 2 boys name starting with the same letter and for sure less than all the people name who end by the same
exemple : daisy, maisy, caissy...
also i think it is nice to find something unusual just because everydays at playgroup nursery , libruary ...i heard the same name i just think how does this work if they are 2 or more in the same classroom with the same name that for me much more confused than to have 2 children's with the same first letter
