I don't like kylan either, it does look made up even if it isn't. But it doesn't matter what I think if you like it. In the UK people would probably shorten it to ky [kai]

stilletoe · 16/04/2010 15:55

What about Kassian or Cassian?

sungirltan · 16/04/2010 16:02

i like kylan actually, more than kelvin but thats being unhelpful!

i want a boys name to start with the same letter as dd's - i think its nice, like the dcs are a set.

happymum2010 · 16/04/2010 16:11

lol
yes kevin name was popular but long time ago as you say about 15 - 20 yrs ago now there are really into killian ...

conor oh no please !!!! that sound a sweard word in french i heard this name everyday at playgroup, parks, libruary and it is for us very unbelivelible to give that name , it's sound really bad in french

What about Keith?

GladioliBuckets · 16/04/2010 16:19

Susie I think she means women who are Boyzone/Westlife fans. Says it all, non?

happymum2010 · 16/04/2010 16:37

yes it was what she mean but it isn't the name we actually ask the opinion for ...

and it's sound great to me (i didn't know about the boyzone/westlife ) i'm not into celebrity name at all but not either on flowers, colour, pearl, spice or brand name which i heard everydays (daisy, ruby, red, violet, rose, sun, skye, france, arielle, kenzo, calvin...)
i definetly prefer kian even if it's a boyzone name which i don't care as i didn't know until now

but as i say before the daddy don't like it so i just wanted an opinion for the name kylan which we both like

i'm happy that some people like it even if more don't but we are still unsure and gona see if we find somethink better during this 3 last months

kelvin name have the same prononciation in both country and it is quiet easy to prononce, write ... and it is still unusual maybe because it s a bit old name, also we both like the meaning and the sound
i don't mind if few people don't like it we can't have all the same taste
but i have no problems at all with his name, people usually compliment it

DS1's middle name is Kiran - hindu name. I love it - as does my sister - but everyone english thinks its keiron...

GladioliBuckets · 16/04/2010 22:36

Oh I like Kiran, I know a Kiran and he is a top bloke.

TheLadyEvenstar · 16/04/2010 22:37

Ohhhh this was me 2 1.2 yrs ago when I wanted a K name for DS2 to go with DS1's name.
I was mind set on calling him Konnor, it is not a made up name and I put it to the MN jury. They made me see the difficulties it would bring in later life for them. DS2 ended up with a Z name in the end.

'Kevin' is still quite inexplicably popular in France. There are a few in DD's maternelle (preschool).
