Hi,

I'm expecting triplets in the Spring - all boys. Two are identical and one is not.
We have a DD already (Phoebe)and I have always struggled with boys names. These are the ones I like so far (not in order of preference):

Dominic
Milo
Charlie
Isaac
Toby
William
Daniel
Harry
Henry
Edward
Nathania l
Fergus
Reuben
Oscar
Max

Probably my favourites are Fergus, Charlie and Reuben but I'm not sure.
What do you think of when you hear these names and which ones would you put together for triplets?
Thanks for your opinions!

Congratulations! I'm struggling for one boys name to be honest! From your list though (most are names we're dabbling with too), I'd pick Charlie, Harry and William with the nn Billy. Billy is my best boys name ever but there are too many in our immediate and extended family for me to use it. I like to think of names that will work as well in an office as they will on a building site, on a football team, in the pub etc etc(that's in 20 years time by the way,not when they are still dribbling.......

Doozie · 07/01/2010 12:44

Congratulations!

Good selection of names.

My pick...

Dominic, Henry & William (nn Billy)
or
Dominic, Charles (nn Charlie) & Milo

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Dominic - and they are always lovey and lush!... ime!

Only not keen on Fergus, it reminds me of Fungus - soz!

BalloonSlayer · 07/01/2010 12:56

Lovely names

Would advise against having Oscar and Charlie together (unless you want to call the other one Foxtrot )

Also, if it were me, I would want them all to be names you could abbreviate, or none of them to be names you could abbreviate, eg if you had Dominic, William and Max, would Max end up feeling odd because Dom and Will/Billy have pet names and he doesn't, or that he doesn't have a "long" version.

I would also practice yelling out their names. You will have to do this a lot. "Nathaniel, Dominic, Edward !!!" bawled across a park twenty times might be a lot more exhausting than "Max, Oscar, Toby!!"

I don't know who mentioned Seth but I dislike it myself, especially where third boys/children are concerned. Seth was the child given to Adam and Eve as a consolation aafter Cain killed Abel. I wouldn't have it for DC3 because of that - daft I know

MrsJohnDeere · 07/01/2010 15:00

William, Henry, Edward would be excellent choices imho.

The only ones I don't like on your list are Charlie and Oscar.

mathanxiety · 07/01/2010 15:35

I would divide your names into four camps:
Dominic, Nathaniel, Daniel
Milo, Charlie, Max, Oscar, Fergus, Harry
Isaac, Toby, Reuben
William, Edward, Henry

My favourite trio is Isaac, Toby, Reuben, with Team Milo second, followed by Nathaniel and Dominic (not so much Daniel) third; fourth are the Kings of England.

vivivi · 07/01/2010 15:52

Congratulations, how exciting to be having triplets!

I like Isaac, Henry and Max the best! I really struggle with boys names too - good luck with everything!

FranSanDisco · 07/01/2010 15:58

I like Max, Nathanial (Nat) and Isaac (Zac). If you don't want the names shortened perhaps Max, Harry and Toby or Oscar. They're all lovely names.

MaElsie · 07/01/2010 19:16

Isaac, Nathaniel & Reuben - Hebrew

Milo, Max and M... - alliteration

Edward, Henry, William - Kings

certainly not William and Harry together

ladyandthechocolate · 07/01/2010 20:28

Aw, thanks for your lovely comments and helpful suggestions. I do like Sebastian but its shortening tends to be Seb which for some reason I'm not so keen on.

Now I have to work on DH. He likes most of the names but loves the name Alistair which is not one of my favourites - ok but don't love it. He's not so keen on Reuben which is one of my faves.

Hi,
Congratulations on all the excitement to come! My trio will be 12 on the 27th Jan, I have Rebecca Anne, Thomas Matthew and James Alexander! Rebecca gets called Becca, not Becky which I am glad about, Thomas is never called Tom, which Im glad about and James is James not Jim! I think all your names are lovely, I am drawn to Toby atm as my niece gave birth to her first child on Dec 14th and named him Toby James, lovely. I love the name Finn, Kofi, and Peter as well! Please wont you come and join us on the multiple thread, we have great fun, you only have to bring wine and chocolate and nuts

MammyG · 07/01/2010 22:15

MaryMungo · 08/01/2010 21:34

Love the name Toby, but not sure of it with Pheobe.

Prefer Miles to Milo.

Edward is nice, but I used Edmund myself.

Really like Fergus.

Reuben still makes me thing of strapping farmer lads in a certain type of novel

Not keen on Charlie.

Lilyloo · 08/01/2010 21:39

I like Harry , William and Edward sound good together and nice names on their own

nighbynight · 08/01/2010 22:02

They are all nice names, but sound a bit royal together. Or like the Grundys in the Archers, are they not William and Edward?

you seem to have 2 distinct groups of names:

ultra trad, royal: William, Harry, Henry, Edward, Charles

middle class trendy: Dominic, Milo, Toby, Daniel, Nat, Fergus, Reuben, Oscar, Max

ToffeeCrumble · 08/01/2010 23:00

Brayden, Caden and Jayden?

thatsnotmymonster · 08/01/2010 23:13

Glad to see Toby is a well-liked name. It was pretty unusual when we named ds 5 years ago. He is Toby Joseph so not unlike your cousin's Toby James, triplets.

onebatmother · 10/01/2010 01:03

yes I did, beesknees! Chiswick way.
