Anyone know any names that mean or relate to 'River'

Not PG yet, but this has been on my mind. For our own reasons, we'd quite like something that means or relates to river(s) but is not actually "River"

Any ideas (boys or girls)?

Failing that, other watery names....?

Gwenllian - means 'white water' in Welsh. Tough to pronounce though, depending which side of the Severn you live on ...

More Sea related rather than River, but I know a boy called Reef and a girl called Coral. I should add they arent related!

India - The word "India" is a Western transliteration of the Sanskrit word "Sindhu," meaning "body of water." It specifically refers to what we know today as the Indus river, though the word could be used for any large body of water.

oldenglishspangles - my DD is called India and I'm ashamed I didn't know it came from Sindhu. Thought it somehow came from "Hind". Anyway, thank you as I now have yet another good reason for loving her name.

Lynn means waterfall or pool.

But it is a bit blah.

You could use it as a second name.

GrumpyGasper · 09/03/2010 09:53

lynn is actually part of my own name....

Thanks again
