Cosimo/Marmaduke/Percy? What do you think?

I love the name Duke. Percy is cute and Cosimo sounds cool I think? I don't talk to family and friends about names so I thought I would ask here.

We already have a Bruno, Hector and Myles.

Hector is fab!

Duke is dreadful and Cosimo is not cool, she says alliteratively.

Percy better than Duke and Cosimo but I still don't like it.

I think Barnaby, Vincent, Sebastian, Isaac or Laurence would go well with your existing ds' names. So would Monty.

dustbucket · 19/07/2009 16:50

Monty is just not my cup of tea, but thank you anyway.

i think they all entirely dreadful and to call a child a name like that is wrong with a capital W

dustbucket · 19/07/2009 16:55

ok. Fine. Thanks for that.

dustbucket - I think you have great taste in names. I think Cosimo is great. Not so keen on Percy. Dont go for Duke it's dreadfull.

dustbucket · 19/07/2009 17:02

I think I should've thought twice before posting their names on here as I didn't realise they'd get knocked and I wasn't inviting opinions on their names, you live and learn though.

The names we have chosen are past family members, much loved and much missed, it was a way of honouring them and having a lovely story to tell our children about their namesakes. However I do like them too- I wouldn't just choose a name I didn't like. :-)

I can't see where anybody has knocked your RL dc names? I think they are lovely btw.

missfitt · 19/07/2009 17:08

are you naming a child or a pot-bellied pig?

dustbucket · 19/07/2009 17:14

Ho-Ho-HO, you might make quote of the week with that one Missfitt, would be a first for you. :-)

I don't like any of your shortlist tbh. Sorry. How about Guy or Louis?

janeite · 19/07/2009 19:33

I would rather be called Marmaduke than Guy!

nickytwotimes · 19/07/2009 19:35

Nope. Bit poncy.

audley · 19/07/2009 19:40

Well I love them all, your DS's names and the three you are considering! I think Duke sounds particularly fabulous

dustbucket · 19/07/2009 20:02

Audley you like poncy pig names too then?

margotfonteyn · 19/07/2009 20:06

Isn't is Cosima for girl, Cosmo for boy?

Bellsa · 19/07/2009 20:07

As someone has already said, posh/aspirational. Sorry, but I dislike them all.

dustbucket · 19/07/2009 20:12

I have had a lightbulb moment.
Scrap everything I've said.
New shortlist

Kayden-Leigh
Kai-Syfolyss

Lol.

I like Percy and Marmaduke,

I am very of bruno and hector, they were on my list when I had dc no.2, but I had a dd so won't get to use them now.

dustbucket · 19/07/2009 20:24

They were my Grandad's names. My granny's were even better ;-)

OP posts:
belgo · 19/07/2009 20:26

I think the names Bruno and Hector are great.

Not so sure about the other names.

Thinking of Duke I once knew a boy called Earl. Dreadful name.

dustbucket · 19/07/2009 20:48

Did he have a brother called Randolph?

OP posts:
monkeyfacegrace · 19/07/2009 20:52

Oh dustbucket, I really dont want to offend. But.Oh.My.God.Please.Tell.Me.You.Are.Joking with all of them?!
They are horrendous, literally the worst names Ive ever heard!! But Im sure your kids are lovely, so it doesn't really matter what you call them
P.S, I hope Sacha Baren Cohen isn't around anymore when Bruno starts secondary school

dustbucket · 19/07/2009 20:55

:-)
Monkey face you are so lovely. Don't worry. My children are lovely and have lots of fantastic friends with very bizarre names, they've never had any negative comments ever.

ZZZenAgain · 19/07/2009 21:01

Cosimo, Marmaduke and Percy are family names or just the names you gave the other boys: Hector, Bruno and I think it was Myles?

I'm just asking because I was wondering if it had to be one of these names because they were the ones you liked amongst the family names you have to work with?

mrsruffallo · 19/07/2009 21:02

I love the names.
I have a soft spot for Clementine and an Aubrey though so probably think along similar lines
