I am thinking of girls names and wondered what you all thought of my shortlist?

Do you prefer Valentina, Georgiana, Francesca or Isabella?

Our surname is Bellucci by the way.

I love Isabella and it would not put me off in the slightest that it is popular.

I do, however, really like your other names too.

pasturesnew · 05/07/2009 14:24

Francesca my fave

cioccolato · 05/07/2009 14:24

Yes mummiesnet, the huge popularity was a slight downer for me but I adore it too. Just cant make up my mind!!

bodiddly · 05/07/2009 15:24

thirtysomething · 05/07/2009 15:47

Love all of them - least keen on Georgiana and love Valentina and Isabella the most.

FairLadyRantALot · 05/07/2009 15:49

Francesca and Valentina are my favourites....Valentina is rarer though...although, I dn't know that many Francesca's...I think I know 2...one in germany one in the UK

bossykate · 05/07/2009 15:58

all gorgeous :-)

MrsBadger · 05/07/2009 16:31

Isabella ragingly popular

Georgiana will frequently be misread as Georgina

I like both the other two though, and both have lots in the way of good nicknames

sockmonster · 05/07/2009 16:31

Isabella/Valentina

cioccolato · 05/07/2009 16:39

Thanks for your opinions everyone!

And Mrs Badger, I was thinking there might be mix ups with Georgiana/Georgina

All nice names, Francesca and Valentina my favourites.

LittleMissBliss · 05/07/2009 16:47

Valentina is lovely, but they are all nice.

Valentina is lovely, but they are all nice.

Granny23 · 05/07/2009 16:51

Vote for Francesca here.

Not keen on Isabella with your surname - a bit Bella! Bella! IYSWIM

cioccolato · 05/07/2009 16:54

Never thought that Bella Bellucci would be a bit of a mouthful!!

If you havent already guessed, DH is Italian so we are going on that trend...

I like Isabella best but not with your surname. Second choice for me is Georgiana. I don't like Valentina.

BarrelOfMonkeys · 05/07/2009 17:03

Have you thought about the shortened versions? Val, George, Frankie/Frannie, Izzy... How do you feel about those?

moshie · 05/07/2009 17:05

I like Francesca

cioccolato · 05/07/2009 17:10

BarrelOfMonkeys,

hmmm I'd say my favourite is Valentina but I don't like Val, or for that matter Tina.

Isabella: perhaps not Bella with our surname, but Izzy is nice.

Georgiana: Georgie is nice as a Nickname.

I don't mind Frankie as a nickname but my husband is Francesco but exclusively known as Frankie.

I knew a Francesca known as Cesca, and one Checky as well as lots of Frans / Frannies / Frankies

sockmonster · 05/07/2009 17:39

I think Georgiana will be mispronounced in the UK by people who don't read the whole name- do you like Giorgina? I know a stunning fiercely intelligent Italian lady named Giorgina, has made me love that name.

I do love Valentina but not sure about any nicknames, maybe Leni?

And, last comment I promise, I think Isabella Bellucci sounds great, great symmetry in the names and if you go with a nickname like Izzy it will never sound silly.

sockmonster · 05/07/2009 17:41

If you look at a lot of successful or famous peoples names, they often have a lot of the same letters in first names and surnames. It is not a bad thing (unless you're going for William Williamson etc}
