I am thinking of girls names and wondered what you all thought of my shortlist?

Do you prefer Valentina, Georgiana, Francesca or Isabella?

Our surname is Bellucci by the way.

I'm a Francesca and am generally known as Chess or Chessie.

I love Valentina. I particularly like Valentine for boys but my dh says no way (we are not pg, just discussing future babynames)

Much as I'm fed up with all the Isabel/lle/llas around at present, I will make an exception for Isabella Bellucci, Italian film star. I think it sounds gretty damn good!

i have an isabelle and a valentine and want a francesca. you have impeccable taste. i'd go for isabella or francesca. not so keen on the george one. isa v common all over the place (5 in my daughter ballet but we still have our little whizzer.

bodiddly · 06/07/2009 20:04

if you like gabriella how about gigi for short?

pinkfizzle · 06/07/2009 20:21

I think that they all are stunning, gorgeous names and go beautifully with your surname.

If I had to pick then maybe Valentina might edge the others, but all are such inspired names.

boodleboot · 06/07/2009 20:54

i like Francesca best out of those i think. i know a lovely Francesca and she was called Chessie as a child.

lastboxoftampons · 07/07/2009 11:29

All lovely names! We had Francesca and Isabel Valentina on our shortlist! Alas, it's a boy!

Agree with the Bella Bellucci! But maybe Isabel instead? I know a Valentina and she's called by her full name, so I wouldnt' worry about nicknames, people will generally follow your lead.

LittleWhiteWolf · 07/07/2009 17:14

Wow, all those names combined with your sirname sound beautiful! I would go with Georgiana because its my fave, but its closely followed by Francesca. I know someone who's ex was called the latter and often went by the nickname Chess which I always thought was cool!

I think Isabella Bellucci sounds lovely, but the nickname Bella doesnt quite so much. Dunno if that would put you off?

How'd d'you wind up with such a great sirname? I got stuck with Fowles when I got married and its just so unattractive!

tracedw · 07/07/2009 18:27

How about ophelia?
love Valentina, wanted Valentine for last boy but dh didnt.

loobylu3 · 07/07/2009 20:39

Lovely names. My favourite is Valentina and least favourite is Francesca. Isabella is v popular if that bothers you.

FSB · 08/07/2009 14:32

all lovely names. i'm a Francesca though and have spent my whole life asking people not to call me Fran!! the only time no-one tried to shorten it was when i was living in Italy, so it's important to have nicknames that you're happy with... i don't particularly like any of the shortenings of Francesca, but Fran and Frannie have to be the worst!
