Awful

tummytickler · 20/06/2009 22:37

Oh - it is Jewish obviously!
She was a midwife in the OT which is very fitting with my career choice also!

brimfull · 20/06/2009 22:38

everyone will call her ship-ra

daisyj · 20/06/2009 22:39

Yes, very pretty name and definitely goes with the others. I prefer the spelling Shifrah, though, but that's just me being picky.

TheCrackFox · 20/06/2009 22:39

Prefer Miriam.

tummytickler · 20/06/2009 22:40

ggirl - surely everyone is not that stupid!
herei - i dont think anyone is going to want to steal it judgeing by these reactions!

tummytickler · 20/06/2009 22:41

daisyj - is Shifrah legit - i might do a check, it does look prettier!

Sidge · 20/06/2009 22:41

I prefer Miriam by a mile.

PacificDogwood · 20/06/2009 22:43

I like the way it looks written down, but said out loud sounds a bit like "Chiffre" = Baddie in latest Bond .
Like all your other names.

sorry, prefer Mirian too

BananaFruitBat · 20/06/2009 22:45

So I'm stupid am I?

Thanks.

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 20/06/2009 22:47

I don't think it goes with the other names, no. It's too obscure - you'll spend years saying "Shiphrar, Yes, s-h-i-p-h-r-a-r, she was a midwife in the Old Testament, you know".

Miriam is a beautiful name.

tummytickler · 20/06/2009 22:47

Banana -
but i dont believe you - i did say how it was pn!

daisyj · 20/06/2009 22:47

I think so - Google comes up with that spelling. I'm not sure how it would be spelt in Hebrew (i.e. with the letter that represents a p(h) or the one that represents an f, if that makes sense). Either way, I reckon with transliteration it's your personal choice, so you could go with which ever you preferred.

MaggieBeau · 20/06/2009 22:48

Miriam is lovely.

My perfect girl's name is Juliet. I only realised that after my two children were named.

MaggieBeau · 20/06/2009 22:49

ps Miriam is much more in the style of your other children's names.

lagaanisace · 20/06/2009 22:49

Lovely. It's great when you just know about a name, isn't it?

BananaFruitBat · 20/06/2009 22:49

I did read it as Ship-ra first.

Thunderduck · 20/06/2009 23:32

Miriam is much nicer.

jabberwocky · 20/06/2009 23:40

I like the other spelling much better. Miriam is quite lovely too.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 20/06/2009 23:45

If you like it, go for it!

I don't like Miriam, but I know a Miriam so I'm influenced by that. I love your kids names, they're all great! (My favourite girl's name is Selena, I'll never post it on here, they're vicious!)
