We currently have Bronwyn and Emrys.

As much as DS is pleading I am not planning to call the new one Baby Gus (he did actually sob over that today ).

Please list oodles of welsh names of both genders. I will offer many thanks but can't see me being polite enough to comment on every single name (but bonus points for honesty yes???)

I have looked on too many sites now and the names are all merging into one - feel like this way I can just show DH a thread of names and it will be simpler

I wasn't thinking and thought that Bronwyn and Emrys were on the list not names of existing DC. FWIW, I didn't say Bronwyn is wrong. I will keep my mouth shut now!

llareggub · 09/06/2009 20:55

DS1's middle name is Iestyn and DS2 is Taliesin.

I have a fondness for Alys, Anwen and Nia.

differentID · 09/06/2009 20:56

Ianto is a great boys name!

edam · 09/06/2009 21:02

I thought Merlin was Merddin and Emrys meant wizard or similar. (There's an engine called Merddin Emrys on the Ffestiniog Railway - my Dad always told me it meant 'Merlin the wizard' in English. Don't tell me my engine-driving Welsh father was fibbing!)

RustyBear · 09/06/2009 21:04

Can I be cheeky and ask if you live in Wales ?
I live in Wales but am not Welsh.
I find a lot of the names really hard to say correctly.
Your two DC have nice Welsh names that are easy to say.
I would choose another easy to say one IYKWIM

paranoidmother · 09/06/2009 21:51

We have 2 welsh names for the kids DS is Owen and DD is Ula (means Owl in old welsh). Which means as I have never come across another girl with her name in this country you'll know who we are if you here it called.

paranoidmother · 09/06/2009 21:52

Rhys and Rhiannon are my favs, love them both

Flamesparrow · 09/06/2009 22:03

DH is Welsh, we live in England. One of my veto points is whether or not people can pronounce it fairly easily.

I have it in my head that Emrys was a second name or something for Merlin, so same bloke but not the same name or something? Druids calling him it rings a bell.

EPPM - have tried to talk DH into Gys, but he ain't buying it

Will copy and paste this lot and email it to him tomorrow (why talk when you have email? )

I like Grady for a boy or girl. :-)

Pingpong · 09/06/2009 22:13

paranoidmother I know a baby Ula and she doesn't have a brother never mind one called Owen so sorry it's not unique in my baby name book it says it's Celtic and means 'gem of the sea'

Pingpong · 09/06/2009 22:14

Good for you Flame - stick with the veto

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 09/06/2009 22:16

We do live in Wales but I'm not Welsh, DH is. We wanted Welsh names but ones that my English family could see and say iykwim.

Our 2 ds's are Evan Rhys and Aled Wyn.

differentID · 09/06/2009 22:37

Lloyd for a boy?
