I love the name, but I'm getting mixed opinions!

nickytwotimes · 06/06/2009 21:04

janeite · 06/06/2009 21:05

Nope, sorry.

rosieposey · 06/06/2009 21:05

Just makes me think of Daniella Westbrook as she called her son that! Sorry dont like it much.

littlelamb · 06/06/2009 21:07

It makes me think of a big fish

tegan · 06/06/2009 21:09

DD1 is 11 and has a Kai in her class

Haribosmummy · 06/06/2009 21:10

reminds me of Daniella Westbrooke too... One reason I wouldn't use it, I'm afraid.

Wilts · 06/06/2009 21:13

I have a nephew called it although the spelling is different.

I am not hugely keen on it although don't really dislike it, it's just not what I would choose. It seems to be fairly popular around here as well.

MrsMattie · 06/06/2009 21:14

No.

You can also spell it Cai, which is the Welsh spelling

diedandgonetodevon · 06/06/2009 21:25

I don't like it, sorry. Makes me think of a shaven headed council estate kid.

Podrick · 06/06/2009 21:25

Don't like it at all

nannynz · 06/06/2009 21:29

makes me think of food, the nz Maori word for food is Kai.

barnsleybelle · 06/06/2009 21:32

There are 2 Kai's in my sons school. Don't like i'm afraid...sorry

bigstripeytiger · 06/06/2009 21:33

I used to like the name, it is a fairly mainstream Scaninavian name. I think that in recent years in the UK it has developed a certain image, which is a shame, but because of that I wouldnt use it now.

Nancy66 · 06/06/2009 21:34

Everybody is titoeing around and not saying it - so I'll just come out with it: it's chavvy....VERY

bigted · 06/06/2009 21:41

hideous and chavy

Takver · 06/06/2009 21:47

The only Cai I know is amazingly charming and delightful, so I wouldn't agree at all

he is not mine btw

Nancy66 · 06/06/2009 21:50

that should be 'tiptoeing' obviously - tittoeing is probably something altogether different.

Meglet · 06/06/2009 21:54

onthepier are you ok? The response hasn't been that enthusiastic has it .

missmama · 06/06/2009 22:01

Well I like it
DS3 is Kai and no its not chavy but slightly unusual.
One of its meanings is fire, another is water.

bigted · 06/06/2009 22:06

it is a very common name round here.
4 in Ds P2 class
also 3 Connors
4 Jacks

barnsleybelle · 06/06/2009 22:10

onthepier... At the end of the day, not everyone is going to like your name choice, but if you like it, use it.
When we said what we were calling our ds we had 2 equal camps... love it, hate it.
Made no difference to us.
