love the name Scout - also my fav literary character of all time.

BonsoirAnna · 11/05/2009 17:53

musicposy - there's a little French girl called Toscane (French for Tuscany) in my DD's class.

boodleboot · 11/05/2009 18:13

mamazon - that is so funny as my step daughter is called Ellesse {pronounced Elise} and apparently that was actually after her brothers trainers....can i just point out that my now DH was not with her mother at the time of naming as they had already split up....she is widely known as Ellie anyway....

i think sheherazade is sheh-heh-ra-zah-day - which i think is beautiful....infact i am putting it firmly back on my list....

I love the name Serafina as remember seeing it on an old family grave but as my married name isnt remotely Italian sounding it kind of jars which is a shame. Im also loving Lyra as just finished reading Northern Lights but Im fickle like that!

OOh fantasy name topic!

Seraphina
Berengaria (Richard the Lionheart's queen, fact fans )
Zuleika
Bathsheba
Oenone
Persephone
Andromeda
Cassiopeia

BonsoirAnna · 12/05/2009 08:59

Geneviève (à la française) is a clunky old lady name. Mabel or Millicent equivalent...

frazzledgirl · 12/05/2009 09:02

Lyra (got roundly handbagged for this by mum and sister and gave up on it, then had a boy anyway).

Claudia/Octavia/Livia (I love I, Claudius)

boodleboot · 12/05/2009 11:14

Willow
Fawn

I tried desperately to talk DH round but he hated them so much we couldn't even use them as middle names
