A sister for Lucy....

dd2 is due in September and I am sadly lacking in inspiration when it comes to names.

I would like her middle name to be a family name, possibly Margaret or Florence after MIL as dd's middle name came from my side.

Lucy was the only name we agreed on when dd was born. We like traditional names, with dh being more conservative than I am. We weren't aware of Lucy's popularity when she was born but tbh I think we would have used it anyway. Her name suits her very well I feel.

So, any ideas gratefully received

haven't read this whole thread so apologies if echoing, but I think Sarah is about as pretty and as classic a name as you can get. Goes well with Lucy and with the middle names you have mentioned

FrannyandZooey · 24/04/2009 17:50

well if your name was eg portman
imogen portman sounds ok to me

maybe yours is MORE rhymey

Tatties · 24/04/2009 18:31

I am a Lucy, and my little sister is Katie

ahundredtimes · 24/04/2009 18:47

Yes it sounds fine, in fact sounds quite cool I think.

It's not Imogan after all.

TigerFeet · 24/04/2009 18:51

I do like Katy but my own name is from a similar root so Katie/Katy/Katherine is out.

I also like Eleanor but it's my sister's name (I helped name her - gah)

yes i think it is fine

i know what you mean, for example my surname is similar to Hayden, and I really like the name Arden - so can you imagine, "hello i am Arden Hayden"?

but Imogen Portman sounds quite cool

My sister is Lucy and I'm a Sarah.

Lydia? Or too many 'Ls'?

Concordia · 24/04/2009 23:09

we have an Imogen and DH initially vetoed as our surname ends in an and then were just lots of ms and ns and rhyming things floating around.
It doesn't sound that ridiculous, and as i love the name i think it's worth it.
Or what about Sarah or Rachel as classic names? Or Jessica?

thell · 25/04/2009 01:46

I like Martha and Nancy too.
Florence (Florrie) is pretty aswell.
Abigail (Abi)
Rosie

My new favourite name is Bridget shortened to Bridie, but DH has vetoed for our still-hypothetical second child [sigh] We will prob go with Rosie, once we figure out what to do with the cat (but that's another thread re: pet/child names...)

on tv today i heard "this room would be perfect for Lucy and Lily" and loved it. theyre cute together, but not too cutesie and are both probably short for something more formal.

Greensleeves at your post - My dd1 is Lucy and dd2 is Amy.

I also considered Emma, Emily, Gabrielle, Mary and the one that I still wish I had gone with, Ada.
