well i have woken up today having an 'i like it' day.....its unusual, sweet sounding and seems to have a mixed following but at least no-one has said 'what??' or 'Never heard of it....'

it remains on the list....hopefully i will find a girls name that i LOVE LOVE LOVE in the way i have found a boys name....maybe it will grow on me....

it's a fine irish name, that.

Leannabanana · 24/03/2009 16:57

its sounds like something you would come across in a galzy far far away.....my surname is a variation on Moynahan...

Good for you, Leanna! Am glad to see that the Little Englanders haven't prevailed, regardless of which name you choose in the end

thumbwitch · 25/03/2009 00:13

HA! This is going to sound really pathetic, but I did think of Monahan (Honest! First 3-syllable Irish surname that came to mind).

Love Pia, I have two Swiss friends called Pia and think it's beautiful.

We have a 10 month old daughter named Pia.

We picked it as it was a beautiful name and not on the UK top 100. We still think it is very pretty but got very mixed responses from people - the pia-no thing and Brighton Pier being the most common. Although quite hurtful to begin with, these comments have now stopped...

She now really suits her name and we have grown to love it even more!

I say go-for-it!!!!

sophieandbelly · 05/05/2009 11:24

i know a girl called pia, she didnt get teased at all. think its pretty, p.s isnt short for anything and is a real name.

Hulababy · 05/05/2009 11:48

Not keen sorry.

In saying that there is a Nia in my Y1 class and that actually really suits her, and not very much different.

BonsoirAnna · 05/05/2009 11:50

One of my best friends has a Pia. She is half-Korean-American, half French. Her name was inspired by another friend who is half-Swedish, half Chinese.

Mia is Meea not Maia!
