Lydia Grace is my fave, but I like all of them

ForeverOptimistic · 10/03/2009 11:00

I like all of them but Lydia would be my first choice.

Sophie is pretty but there are loads and loads of little Sophies around.

Hannah was more popular a few years ago I haven't come across many pre-schoolers called Hannah. I like it, it is very classic, generally it does not seem to get the MN vote though!

McDreamy · 10/03/2009 11:02

Another vote for Lydia

Haribosmummy · 10/03/2009 11:02

I know lots of Hannahs, but as FO said, they tend to be older (10-15YO). I like it.

Overall, I like Lydia Grace best.

RaspberryBlower · 10/03/2009 11:03

I really like Lydia. I think it's a little more unusual than the others.

Hannah is my favourite from the list - I like it with both middle names, especially Marie. Hannah Marie has a nice sound to it.

Sophie is a pretty name, but I would use Louise and not Louisa.

I don't like Lydia Grace.

MsBrandybuck · 10/03/2009 11:20

Another vote for Lydia Grace here

Tommy · 10/03/2009 11:25

DS3 was going to be Lydia so I would go for that one.

Thay are all beautiful, what my Mum would call "Proper names" - lovely

jellybeans · 10/03/2009 11:29

Sophie Louisa is my favourite

Nancy66 · 10/03/2009 11:29

Lydia Grace is my favourite by a mile. Don't like sophie and Hannah is madly popular and overused.

LouMacca · 10/03/2009 11:52

Sophie Louisa is my favourite (although I too would have Louise)

Also like Hannah Rose.

Not keen on Lydia Grace, sorry.

branflake81 · 10/03/2009 11:53

I really like Hannah

Sophie and Lydia are nice too.

Really like all of those. Sorry- not helpful! I think I'd wait and see which she looked most like.

Leannabanana · 10/03/2009 12:03

i can just hear my dad saying Lydia oh Lydia, my encyclo-piddia...don't even know where that is from but it would put me right off...

i prefer Sophia Louise to Sophie Louisa.

BalloonSlayer · 10/03/2009 12:20

Leannabanana - is that from "Lydia the tattooed lady" from the Muppets?

I always sing that in my head when I read the name Lydia - sorry OP! - but it is a beautiful name and it wouldn't put me off choosing it.

ja9 · 10/03/2009 12:22

sophie louisa is my fave... i have heard of so many hannahs born recently...

Leannabanana · 10/03/2009 12:24

it could be from muppets....i thought it was from monty python as my pops was such an avid fan when i was growing up but he has many RIDICULOUS sayings he uses....silly old buffoon...(just kidding daddy!!)

it is a beautiful name tho....a bit like Cordelia....thats also pretty....what about that?

chaya5738 · 10/03/2009 12:28

I like them all but worry that Sophie is too popular...

BalloonSlayer · 10/03/2009 12:34

Leanna to say I just checked on youtube and your line is in that song! Groucho Marx did it first though (learn something new every day!)

Sorry Laurenypops hope we haven't put you off.

helsy · 10/03/2009 12:35

All lovely. Lydia perhaps less popular, very pretty.

seeker · 10/03/2009 12:35

Lydia Grace by a mile!

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 10/03/2009 12:38

I love Lydia it was one of my names for dd2 but was vetoed by DH along with Alyssa and Anja. We let dd1 choose in the end.

Laurenypops · 10/03/2009 13:03

Thankyou for your feedback. Your opinions seem to be fairly evenly split! Does anybody know what Lydia is shortened to - presumably Liddy? That's my only hesitation as our DD is Lauren that doesn't get changed. We do like Sophia but know one of our friends really wants it for her DD when she is conceived!

BalloonSlayer glad you have found the thread informative!!
